I have a T55AM2, you have a huge restoration project ahead of you but it is nice to see you trying to restore it!!! I do enjoy running around the desert here in Arizona in my tank. I did run into a few of the Type 59's when I was in the Army during Desert Storm in Iraq. That's why I am interested in following your project. These things usually take about 5 years to complete.

Parts is the key. Obviously they have a lot of fabrication to do with the rusted out "thin skin" sections but parts are it. I do not know what parts, if any, are interchangeable with a type 59. There is a ready supply of parts in the Czech republic and Poland for T-55's so they are in good shape there IF they are compatible with a Type 59. I think they have a real challenge. I'd estimate at least $100K in parts, which defeats the purpose when you can get a T-55AM2 from the Czech's for around $70K. I think they'd be better off buying a Czech T-55AM2 and call it a day. To answer your question...NO, I don't think they can complete it. I really want to be wrong here and would love it if they did complete it and say "in your face Chad"!!!

@@chadlares Very interesting, thanks for your response (Scary you were in Iraq to see them in person! glad you made it out) I've seen some of those tank restoration project videos and they seem to get out of control very quickly. Sounds like, being in Europe especially, they could get shipped much more cheaply a Czech T55, which they can get parts for. I can't imagine what a crank for a Type 59 is going to cost, let alone all the doodads inside. I bet just a T55 in reasonable condition would still be a fun and large project to complete, but this baby, send it to the metal recycler me thinks Milo! (Your tank videos are awesome! that thing looks in superb shape!)

@@Werkplaatsvlog You have plenty of other projects keeping you busy too. I've got an OT-810, M20, M3A1 halftrack along with a bunch of HumVees that have me constantly working on vehicles. Don't ask me to work on my own regular cars or truck, I won't do it. I send those to whatever mechanic. Military vehicles, absolutely. I enjoy that. So now you are looking at your tank and calling it done? RIght on! It would be cool to take them both out off road but you live across that river called the Atlantic.

Nummetje op de toren is 16. Hoort nog een ander teken of nummer bij om aan te geven in welke brigade of division die tank hoort. Meeste chinese tanks zatten in het irakse leger en weinig bij de republican guard. Dat kastje op de toren is de laser range finder. Alsje de originele documentatie zoekt hoor ik het graag.

Hey Mastermilo. Ik ben een oud tankschutter, heb jaren op de Leopard2A6 en CV90(geen tank maar goed) gediend. Nu inmiddels uit dienst, maar nog steeds een grote liefde voor de tanks. Als je ooit wat hulp wilt, laat maar weten. Ik kom uit Denbosch, en zo te horen zit jij daar niet ver vandaan! @@conceptalfa So difficult to find such parts in Iraq, due to several reasons. It is easier to find it in Egypt. Try to contact the Egyption embassy in Britain and asking them for help. You will be welcomed..

T69 is a us little tank with a 152mm rocket or a 90mm that tank is the T55A/T55AM1 the T 55 has a 100mm smooth bore gun or a 115mm smooth bore gun or a 125mm smooth bore gun all can fire apcr and HE and apbc and a tow rocket and etc

een kleine correctie kerel, dat is een Chinees T-54, geen T-55. verschil zit hem in de ''paddestoel'' op de koepel, de paddestoel is eigenlijk puur voor NBC protectie omdat de T-55 dat intern heeft en bij veel T-54 tanks dat erop gemonteerd moest worden

It’s called a ZTZ-69 (Type-69). Basically after the Chinese screwed their relationship with Russia they needed a new tank. The Chinese being uncreative basically upgraded their ZTZ-59s. The progress on development of the ZTZ-69 was also slowed by the cultural revolution. In the late 80s China sold a ton Of them to both Iraq and Iran during the Iran - Iraq war. Yes the Chinese sold weapons to both sides. Also ZTZ-69 preformed poorly during the Gulf war.
