MMC have acknowledged that the lack of white on the holding hand is an error and they are shipping a painted replacement with Getaway. You can also get them to mail you one if you aren't planning on picking up their Getaway.

Love this figures, love the use of exclusively designed molds and I love the fact that they respected us as collectors/fans and gave us the perfect pair without trying to sell one we don't want. If MMC keeps on this track I'm with them until the end and they can release every character on the IDW universe, I will buy them all. They need to release a new version of Cyclonus and Whirl but I can wait. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface.

I'm still hoping for a legit Nautica since we've heard nothing of SXS' planned version in years and a Fulcrum since MMC's Reformatted line is likely the only way we'll get either.

I never got into the Reformatted line, but have always liked it. These figures are no exception. They look great with the rest of the crew.

Looks like you missed a bit of transformation for Chromedome in bot mode. If you open up the red canopy section on his back you can swivel the windscreen portion into the red canopy section. Great review overall and some great figures too. I'm really happy with mine and I'm looking forward to their Rung figure. I'd really like to see MMC tackle Riptide and maybe round out some of the odder Lost Light crew members too.

There is an ab crunch for Chromedome, but its v tight. I used a metal blade to lever it out from the back.

Honestly, doesn't look too bad. I can see why some people are disappointed. There are some proportion issues and the fig doesn't capture the Milne-style as well some of MMC's other entries. However, the quality looks good, both in terms of plastic and tolerance, posability is excellent on both figures, and the transformations look really fun. Heck, even the altmodes don't look like afterthoughts although they very well could have been such. Even with its downsides, this figure delivers everywhere a good transformer should. I'm definitely picking this up.

Great Review! Totally understand the concern about committing to IDW representations in the future. I love this set. There are 2 things you missed on Chromedome. The backpack collapses more, hiding away the cockpit and he does have an ab-crunch, it's just a tight peg to access it. Thanks for all your awesome reviews!

The only two things I would have done differently is the paining of Rewind's hand for the hand holding hands, and also add a mini Rewind in data stick mode for Chromedome to hold to replicate the final Lost Light issue. ... Now I has a sad...

Hey Bobby... i bought direct from planet steel express, they threw in a couple of red rifles for chromedome (same mould as deadlock/drifts) but at least he has guns now. They're pretty well known for throwing in something for buying direct but i guess they're probably making a decent chunk more profit that way. Also as an aside its quite often free shipping too which makes sense in my part of the world haha. Anyway, keep up the good work!

I know everyone will keep him in robot mode but, if you're gonna make Rewind fold up into a cuboid that's vaguely suggestive of an alt. mode, wouldn't you make it suggestive of a memory stick rather than a tape? After all, we're expecting they'll eventually do a G1 one that'll be a tape, right?

Great review! I've had them for a few days and really enjoy them. Two things though: if chromedome's wheel is very tight you should open it, cause the screw may damage the plastic part it goes into. I think there's a tutorial on tfw's mnemo/morif thread. And second thing: Chromedome has an ab crunch, but its not toleranced well.

Great review. Very interesting comments on the display and future of IDW collections. I retired mine last year - I love the characters but too few of them have been produced well and I have become more and more disappointed with myself (rather than MMC/others) each time I buy more of these. The nail in the coffin for me was the ratbat- I really didn’t need that figure...

I just started buying MMC's IDW figures last summer, and I'm already having similar thoughts. Some of them are great individual figures, but I don't know that I see a future for them as a collection.

I love this line i know what you will say that its not needed anymore because transformers is g1. That's not the case the figures are has good has any mp i have messed with. This universe changed transformers for alot of people. Just because the series is over doesn't mean people need to stop collecting them. If that was the case people need to stop collecting g1 it ended 3 decades ago. That won't happen. Plus this gives collectors something different to collect.

Anyone else feel that most of the mmc figures are just not good enough for the price/collection? It may just be me but some are wonderful and others just irk me. I was planning to get this but the mass of knobbly hinges of chromedome's abdomen really was a turn-off for me. I have more issues with the set but that forced me not to purchase it. Getaway and Rung look good so far though.

I'm just not on board with this figure. I was so excited when he was announced, but the final version is disappointing to point that I didn't buy it. I have several MMC IDW figures, I love the IDW comics and I love this character, but the unfinished look of him puts a bad taste in my mouth. I think it's all of the visible pins and hinges in his abdomen. It's so ugly.

I totally agree, big fan of the characters and the Reformatted line but something just feels off about this release. I'll probably still get them eventually but they're not a priority for me anymore.

Looking forward to the trailer video. I just imagine it hasn't happened yet because of how impossible it is to transform the thing (though the reality is probably something related to shipping and available time). I'm curious about the future of the IDW stuff myself. I think it could theoretically keep going for the foreseeable future, but I don't know how many of the IDW characters I really care about, especially because everything after Dark Cybertron just makes me want to headbutt a brick wall indefinitely. These two in particular bore me. They're part of IDW's phase where everyone has to be gay to have any kind of character building, which is just uncreative and dull. Which is to say nothing of Rewind's... shall we call it, rewind. Speaking of dull... since these guys were revealed, I thought Chromedome looked dull. The colours just don't pop. MMC don't use a lot of paint on their Reformatted figures (which I feel they should for the prices they charge), so that doesn't help, but something just seems lacking to me compared to other Chromedome toys, and I can't quite put my finger on what it is. The alt mode definitely looks better-coloured than the robot mode though. I like MMC's Reformatted line well enough but when some of their best figures are the rather expensive DJD, for example, I'm less interested. I like the DJD designs but they're barely in the comics and then they all die and that's that, and I feel like a lot of MMC's best Reformatted figures tend to fall into that category.

Chromedome and Rewind are written substantially better than most of the other same-sex couples in IDW though.
