Thank you, I've tried getting many profs to explain this concept and upto now I always found it confusing. You made it very clear, simple and easy to understand.

Thank you so much!!!! I was practicing for the ACS test didn't really understand stereochemistry and struggled with it. After watching your videos I got a perfect score on the stereochemistry section!!!! It's very easy for me to now assign R/S configurations from fishcher or any form. God bless your soul thank you so much for making these videos. You truly helped me.

I don't think you would because then H, being your #4, is no longer in the front. The reason you flip it is that in the 3D structure, you want your #4 pointing away from you in order to determine R or S. If it's in the front (coming up and "hugging" you) then it's not pointing away from you. It really helps if you make a 3D model, and then you can actually see it for yourself.

I understand exactly how you did the question but I have one question. The way my lecturer taught it is that since H is usually forward the assignment rules are backwards therefore clockwise is S and counterclockwise is R. Am I missing something? Please help. Thanks in advance ☺

Hello, the names of your videos don't match. I am having difficulty finding your videos. For example in this video you say if you saw sawhorse projection, but I cannot find it. Could you please kindly guide me to the list of your videos. I like your videos but I cannot find what I need even though according to you they exist.

i think there is a mistake in naming those carbons, you put carbon #1 and carbon #2 for the R and S decision. It was supposed to be Carbon # 2 and carbon # 3

I still don't understand how to find stereocenters
@Apratim98
@Apratim98 7 жыл бұрын
There are only two requirements for that 1.The carbon should be sp3 hybridised i.e bonded to 4 groups tetrahedrally 2.All those 4 groups should be different.(The reason is because even if two groups become same and the mol, then loose the ability to exist in two spatially diff. forms and no matter how you arrange those 4 groups they will superimpose i.e they will be same).

just look for any C atoms that are connected with 4 different groups. That's all. If there are any double or triple boundaries, there is automatically no stereocenter. If a C has two or more H's it is no stereocenter. If a C has a H, a C and two CH3 it's no stereocenter, because the CH3 is double. If it has one Cl, one H, one OH and one CH3 it's a stereocenter. If a C has one Cl, one H, a CH3 and a C with an OH it's a stereocenter, too. Just look, that everything connecting to your C is different. Try to draw out these molecules, maybe this helps :)
