Tour highlights:
Innsbruck
We have a new resi-landing for the BMX & MTB tow in part of the show, which allowed the riders to go higher and try bigger stuff onto the mobile landings than ever before. Sam, Bienve and Patrick all pulled huge tricks out and the audience loved it.
US Metal Mulisha FMX rider Wes Agee rode his first ever MoD show and slotted into our format right away with sick tricks. Quad FMXʼer Jon Guetter arrived with a bunch of new tricks and has stepped it up big time, as has our Sled rider Jostein, whose phrase "Do you want to see the backflip" in a heavy Norwegian accent, is catching on with the crowds who were heard saying it to each other after the shows. Despite Sam, Kai and Derek all taking some huge slams for the crowd in Innsbruck, they all left with only minor injuries, but would still have to sit out the rest of the weekʼs shows.
St.Polten
Second stop was on a tennis court, in a futuristic looking caged arena that looked like something out of Mad Max Thunderdome. The setting made for an intense atmoshpere as the crowd were really close. Even though we could only fit 3500 people into the arena it sounded like 30 000. The show was great, weather was perfect and standing in as a very last minute replacement for Kai and Derek was local boy Muph Schenk, who was the crowd favourite in the FMX battle segment.
The Thunderdome setting made for a electric atmosphere during the nightʼs show, once the crowds rolled in, Mosaken had the music pumping and the lights and pyro lit it all up.
Graz
The final stop was in Graz, with a large outdoor set up next to the Schwartzelsee lake. On the first day we got there we enjoyed lovely sunshine and even got some wakeboarding in. Then on the show day the clouds opened up and it rained right up until the show. This meant most riders had little or no practice. A small delay to check the ramps and get the set-up rideable and our professional riders were still able to put on a cracking show for the capacity crowd.
Thanks to all the fans who supported the tour, especially the 10500 who arrived and sat in the rain for an hour before the show in Graz got underway. By the end of the 3 hour spectacle, they were all on their feet asking for more.
We wish everyone a great summer and will release a schedule soon of upcoming MoD events. For now keep checking out www.mastersofdirt.com for videos and pics of the recent tour which will be loaded soon. Thanks to Monster Energy & all of our sponsors for their support.
