I love the music (Chopin), and I couldn't help myself from crying. My parents (both deceased) loved classical music, art, and photography, my mom was a wonderful needle artist for almost 55 years. She died last year. I miss them both dearly... *Thanx for the phenomenal video! ;)*

dark , sublime, serene, eerie yet beautiful and haunting..... it makes me want to be alive in victorian times. so much dignity, so much class and style.

So little personal hygiene products. But you're very right about the images.

as a photographer for the last 15-20 years, we have always been told to go back and look at the masters in the paints to learn about lighting. Never were we told about a photographer as wonderful as this that had such a mastery of light that learned on her own, not to mention performing the art on glass/tin. And the work being so incredible, so masterful. Today's photographers that feel they need to shoot hundreds or thousands of shots for the simple fact that they have digital, learn folks..

Thank you for sharing this extraordinary work! I've seen many of these portraits before and knew little of their origination.... Much appreciated!

Ironically, many of her male contemporaries proclaimed her work as amateurish and technically unsophisticated. Today, her work is considered to be some of the most beautiful images ever created. They are indeed magnificent works of art.

I just sat transfixed for the whole video. This lady photographed with her heart not her camera. Beautiful stuff.

Thanks for sharing, I'm doing research for a Historical Portraits; Painting and Drawing class I'm going to teach. If anyone has good books, documentaries, magazines, sites, etc. with historical photography I would love any suggestions.
