Wing Chun Blocking techniques you need to know
Hi, everyone. Master Wong here. In my latest video, "Wing Chun vs Hammer Fist: A Tale of Speed and Power," I delve deep into the essence of martial arts, guided by the timeless wisdom of the 12 WuDe virtues. These virtues shape our physical abilities and mold our inner strength and character.
In this video, I explore the intricate dynamics of Wing Chun, a martial art celebrated for its precision and efficiency. By harnessing the principles of Wing Chun, we can effectively target an assailant's vulnerabilities like the Temples, Nose, and Eyes. This technique is especially potent in close-quarters combat, where precise, bone-jarring strikes and joint locks become pivotal. Moreover, it teaches us to block punches with an elbow, neutralizing the opponent's force, and simultaneously launch counter-attacks using the elbow, Hammer Fist, and knee.
The essence of Wing Chun lies in its harmony with the body's natural structure. In my experience, understanding your body's inherent mechanisms is crucial. In the video, I focus on the angles and leverage used in the KT3 Self-defense technique. This approach is not just about physical strength; it's about optimizing your body’s inherent mechanisms to generate explosive power, a testament to the time, the place, and the method of attack.

Looks good! I also see a lot in common with techniques we do in Karate. I never thought about it until Jesse Enkemp and Kevin Lee did a comparison video together recently showing similarities between Karate and Wing Chun. @@masterwong101 I’m not entirely sure yet because I’ve only recently started researching this topic as well as only recently started learning the REAL applications behind our Kata (forms) which are actually almost entirely close range fighting, grappling, throws, sweeps, and takedowns. I suppose if I have to answer now, I really enjoy the kata/forms. Both for the artistic performance aspect as well as studying their real applications

Makes me wonder at times IF, much like has been theorized sometimes with all the world's languages, if all Martial Arts styles an forms, or vast majority at least, will all one day merge into one all inclusive Uber form where practioners basically at the highest levels of mastery are basically prepared to fight anyone(s) under just about any situation too an stand very real chances of winning. Even ones where they really shouldn't or majority of people wouldn't or even try

@@alexanderren1097 more like a very evolved form of mma I guess would be the best way to think of what I'm thinking. Like being able to do ALL the things pro fighters an even champ fighters can, BUT also being able to understand an teach just about every sorta traditional school style an form an having the matching thorough understanding as many are also quite deep with not just the physical parts. BUT yet again is also highly adaptable to modern real world scenarios. Like battlefields, surviving any number of crime incidents like terror attacks an riots, or just a 1vs 1 minor street scuffle. But in the more severe ones one is capable of holding off an even taking out MANY multiple opponents, alone, if they had too, an easily beat them back. Which is extremely hard even for most legendary Masters an extremely risky too UNLESS they're extremely good at what they do. or in 1 v 1 be able to easily control with little to no issues. Don't think there's any such thing as that an basically everything right now seems to have specific niches or needs that are filled via the various styles an forms

1. This is a good go to defensive/offfensive block. Effective & efficient. Simple & can be develop to your own style. Works well with hand to hand self defense. 2. This technique not only has wing chun element but KFM, DefenseLab, Silat, Kali, Tritac Frame 52blocks, crossarms guards etc. So it shares all the qualities to protect oneself from danger. 3. If i must add, it would be better if we all can build awareness & safety of our surrounding and also mindset. Always practice caution and sharpen your senses cuz it will keeps u alive and loved ones safe. 4. Other than that, before the framing defense, one should also learn the SPEAR technique by Tony Blauer that use of biomechanics as a weapon and auto self defense tool. 5. Plus, when standing and aware that there could be a confrontation, have a defensive stance by making sure your hands is always in front of u. For example, having your arms crossed and the other hand holding your chin. What this do, it covers your body and your neck and it prepares your to do the SPEAR and initiate the Framing to protect your head and ready for counter attack in your defensive mode. I learned about this from Fred Maestro. 6. Stay safe & keep practicing everyone. Tq Master Wong for sharing with us this wonderful technique.

No disrespect but who punches like that? I've been in a few fights in my life, but no one has ever telegraphed a punch like that. Most of the time a person swings with a jab and might finish with a power pumch. I only ask because I'm no fighter and have no formal training. Thanks.

In my experience, the way you train determines how you react in a real situation. Wing Chun's chain punch emphasizes rapid strikes, aiming for efficiency and speed. It might seem telegraphed, but it's about overwhelming the opponent with a continuous flow of strikes. Train hard, live clean, and not let anyone bully you.

Thank you Master Wong. I think i can understand that. More of an "offensive" defense.

How many people attack that slow and swing that wide like that? I'm willing to bet most attackers aren't going to attack by broadcasting their attack that slowly and flailing.

Dude this video is mostly effective against street fighter/brawler. Go watch all the life street fight for example Breaking Down match where this MMA fighter gather all this thugs all over Japan to compete in a tournament. Look at the way they fight and think of how Master Wong technique is actually can be effective against them.

Master Wong, you've a habit of wrapping your hands over your head as shield in defence I noticed. No good. The attacker could trap those hands and counter you. And are you so sure your hits would surely maim your attacker? Lol. Everyone’s threshold of pain varies and we should never presume they would fall at our first blow. Always give yourself an allowance for your attacker to recover and then ready to respond again. Don’t just think of looking cool and effective as in the movies. You’d be dead in real situations.

Questioning and skepticism are part of the learning process. In KT3, we turn doubts into opportunities for improvement. What's a specific aspect of self-defense that you're skeptical about, and how can we address it together?

What Master Wong is sharing here, for a people that is not a trained fighter, there is a go to defense mode for them. Mostly in the streets, in hand to hand combat, people will strike at your face and head. So having a go to system that protect and offense is good. Of course this technique is incomplete but it can be useful especially when u know how to use it by adding your own technique.
