Am I thinking all the hate is based purely on the fact they have cleaned up their vocals. They are still producing their own unique Progressive Metal . Just because they don't growl as much as your precious Leviathan. Take dream theater they don't need to have death growls to be a great prog metal band. Tool, Karnivool, all those bands don't need the harsh vocals to sound good. I hate when people use the heavy argument to state weather a band is good or bad.

@@user-bf6gz8ej4o nah I disagree, some of his absolute best soloing ever is on H&G. Gigantium solo is glorious and maybe his best, more than I could chew and gobblers of dregs have fantastic solos as well. He didn’t have a huge role in the songwriting on the album but his guitar work was great especially his soloing. Dude is doing fine and is not all fucked up all the time either, quit trying to make it seem like he’s some hardcore strung out junkie who’s losing his ability to play. His solos are the best they’ve ever been and his playing live was fantastic.

Don't forget too, that he's a TBI survivor... I think he's doing okay for someone who literally got his brains beaten out and lived. He does things with guitars that nobody else EVER thought of before, so something's obviously working.

Brent should sing on most songs...his vocals are magical and give that hypnotic feel to their songs.
@kingkeefage7 жыл бұрын
Marty 105380 Man, Troy and Brent make the vocals what they are. They always have. I do like Brann's most of the time, but they cemented the vocals of this band together, and it would be a shame to seperate that. Though, Troy did have more vocal duties in earlier releases
@Marty-yx2wi7 жыл бұрын
kingkeefage I am not a fan of Brann's vocals, too generic. The combination of Troy and Brent on lead vocals works fantastic. Brent's voice is such unique, I'm looking forward to his solo album this summer.
@kingkeefage7 жыл бұрын
Marty 105380 It's a shame that it didn't work out this way, but when news broke of there being a new Mastodon album, they said it would be a double album. The first disc was going to be written entirely by Brent, while the second half was to be a full band effort. I don't really like what Brent has done with other musicians, so now I'm sceptical on whether I will like his solo shit or not. As far as Brann goes, I think some songs he works very well on, like Oblivion and Asleep in the Deep. Others are hit or miss for me. I can't even begin to explain Creature Lives... It's just one of those things, I guess.
