I did not understand the average question, how do we know that 85 can be an avg. No.? And how the average number is -7, -9 and so on?

Here number starts with 78 and greatest number is 96 so we can use our common sence that 85 can be the average coz 78 is lowest and higher is 96 so 85 is average.....we don't need to find out the average coz it will take time
