The Huebner family has been driving their cattle herd from the Matagorda Peninsula across the Colorado River through the town of Matagorda for 80 years.

. . . Don't believe the hype! ---->>>> As long as people drink milk, eat steaks, brisket, ribs and ice cream, there will never be a day when you don't "see" a cattle drive. (Depending on what part of the state you reside in.) **NOTE: Even if done only for sport and spectators, cattle drives are apart of Texas' fabric. 🇨🇱 ❤️

When those cows are in the bay, does that make them surf and turf? 😁

If God help the Hebrews cross the ocean 🌊, then God will help the cows 🐄 to cross the river too. I’m not sarcastic.

Maybe 1 or 2x a year, I think the people who don't like it can make changes for those days. You don't want to stress the animals and having to truck them would be a huge stress and cost on the farmers and cows. I've never been blessed with seeing a cattle drive living in NYC but if I chose to move to an area where there are traditions like that I would plan ahead and leave a day earlier or just be late, cuz that is pure beauty watching the cows be herded. #keepcattledrives, #savetraditions, #cowboysandtheirherds

I had a cowboy head a herd into the water of the Inter-coastal waterway a hundred yards ahead of my boat, and hold up his hand for me to stop. The problem was, I was in a push boat pushing 4 loaded barges, and it took over a half mile to stop. The cows got between the barges, and cows were coming out from between those barges for the next several miles, mooing all the while. I had to keep the propellor turning to have steerage, but I reduced it to minimum, to avoid making too much hamburger. The last I saw of that cowboy, he had thrown his hat down in the water, was shaking his fist, and using some downright uncivil language.
