Bro you can use debit or credit card also to travel on busses and trains by tap on the touch pads, but the card must be contactless type of card, so you didn't have to buy Oyster cards at all, and there is a limit or ceiling per day after which if you travel no more charges are collected.

London - the Thames boat ride is great, you get to see some iconic locations, central London is amazing, you’ll need to visit southall and show how the Asian community have settled …..you must drive through the scenic Cotswolds,…..Cornwall and Devon are beautiful but May be out of the way for you ….Leicester / Birmingham / Manchester - showcases thriving Asian businesses and great for food ….some famous roads in each area Soho Rd, Wilmslow Rd etc …..The Lake District , York , Edinburgh all very beautiful

I stay in UK. Oyster has only capping facility otherwise its same as any credit card. And it deducts 6 pounds (authorize) while getting in and it will get adjusted (actual fare) while punching out. For train you have to punch in and out.
