I better tell you something about that jacket. The reason he was able to wear that. Is there a metal plate on the outside obviously it’s what’s underneath them. Yes you get burnt up on the neck and around the ears more than anything. The Tillcock as it’s called believe it or not is safer! The real reason they stop using the jacket was because you gotta think he’s holding that on all the whole time singing and not moving that the key Not Moving, since the heat can’t disperse till did ended up passed out from heatstroke more often than anything! I’ve seen it myself! 2008 big day out, and he opened the show with a RAMMSTEIN so as he ended up finishing in the Australian summer and you figure out the rest at least how he ended up, passing out backstage more you never on at least to my knowledge

I remember that day in 1988, when the three aircrafts crashed in Ramstein base. It was all over the german news in TV that day. One jet went down in a forrest, another hit helicopters and the third jet, still burning, crased right into the audience. 70 people got killed, about 1000 got injured. Even though the news didn't show much of the footage, seeing people jumping from their seats and trying to escape, screaming, while that burning chunk of metal crashed was terrifying, escpeially for a teenager that I was back then. Horrible.

Hahaha. :| . Nice cut. Like it. I am not sure if I've ever comment here, but after he said how big the stage is... I was at the very first concert 2019 in Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen (Germany, but that known) we where on the search for our dedicated places but we accidentally went to the wrong side of the stadium. We had lost every orientation so... Don't blame us. It was very early and a few hours before the concert so there were only a few thousand people... We came out at the opposite direction where we thought we were. It was directly behind the stage and it was breathtaking! The stage and everything else was as high as the steep tribune and reaching the stadium roof. Felt like standing directly in front the chinese wall but built of metal instead of stone.

According to the tour manager, the crew (from truck drivers to the band) for the show consists of 265 people. To bring the stages and equipment to the USA, 5 Boeing 747s were chartered. Because of Covid, they had to be canceled. But next year, the planes will take off. For the fire during the show, 1000 liters of White Spirit (a special kind of light gasoline) are burned. Only in the song "Sonne" there is more fire during the show.

The name of the group Rammstein came about like this: The Ramstein air show disaster occurred on Sunday, August 28, 1988, during Flugtag '88 Air Day at USAF Ramstein Air Force Base near Kaiserslautern, West Germany. Three aircraft of the Italian Air Force display team collided during their display and fell to the ground in front of a crowd of about 300,000 people. In the ensuing explosion and fire, 70 were killed (67 spectators and three pilots) and 346 spectators were seriously injured and hundreds more had minor injuries. The name of the group Rammstein came about like this: This song was created in honor of the victims of the accident.

So this is (rather obvious) about the flight show tragedy that the band is named after, that happened at Rammstein AFB in Germany. The red lights at the very beginning are meant to look like low-aircraft warning beacons on high structures, maybe in part because one of the changes after the disaster was a new minimum altitude requirement for stunt-flying.

I don't have this verified but I read a commentary that seemed to know its stuff that said that this show involved 60 semi's arriving 6 days before the show to get set up and make sure everything is working. That said...YEAH...how much does a production like this cost? Even with the huge crowd I have never seen a stage set-up even half this ambitious before! Enjoyed your commentary and will add I agree the music seems kinda "simple" and yet that simplicity seems to work with the gigantic production. The whole sound had a very elemental feel to it. This is not a stage for a folk act.

Re: Trucks, etc. The best overall article on the stage construction is by the trade association magazine, "TPI Magazine", "Rammstein: A Heavy Metal Masterclass", November 2019, Issue #243 (12 pages). They interviewed the Production Manager, Nicolai Sabottka, who commented: “As is commonplace with a tour of this size, you end up leap-frogging your steel system. Ensuring the steel got to each venue ahead of the production was Peter Smiet, who provided 20 trucks, with an additional 45 of the Trucking Services fleet following suit with the rest of the production.” (p. 30). So it's about 65 trucks TOTAL, but only about half of that are at any one site at one time. There is also a good article on the Rammstein stage construction by WIcreations "MotionMag", Issue 01, "The Rammstein Case", at www.wicreations.com/en/news/article/read-the-very-first-edition-of-motion-mag. That song made them famous. It's the only song that was written by all members of Rammstein. The song made the band famous, because it was on the soundtrack of David Lynch's movie "Lost Highway". That was their first real international hit and from then on it went upstairs for them. National in Germany and international. Because they were named after the accident at Ramstein (with one "m") airbase, I didn't liked them at first in the nineties. I found their band name and the song tasteless back then...and I partly still do, because it was a terrible accident. But I forgave them... 😎
