Hi Mat, some info for you. The reason why your second-hand headlights worked once swapping the modules from the old unit is because they are specifically coded into the FRM (Foot-Well Module). Each car has its own unique FRM and, in turn, means the modules are also coded to that specific FRM. For example if your footwell module went down and had to be replaced you would have to code the FRM to the vehicle and then the modules would code in from there. How I think of it is modules can't communicate with their FRM if it's not made aware they are present. Hope that helps

Headlights worked since u changed the light control unit (it contains the original VIN to the vehicle ) the rest of the headlight is just wiring and LEDs. I think there’s even a way to program the unit but it requires special tools to rewrite the EPROM that contains all the codes inside the CU. So happy to see the lights pop on and understanding how everything works is even more exciting.

So nice that you can do this with your father !! Last week me and my dad decided to fix a broken seat slider in my car. It's a simple Renault Clio seat, no fuss about it, and we had a spare one in the cellar. We had to figure out where all the bolts are, how to disconnect air bag lines and how to deal with tricky torx screws since we don't have the torx nuts and screwdrivers. It took us 3 hours to do everything but it was so worth it. Great way to play with a car a bit, and even better to do it with my father.

The reason for headlamps to work after transferring modules is because the modules are programmed to that car. for some vehicles after changing the headlamps you will need to reprogram the headlamps to the vehicle or transfer over modules. This is also why they sell headlamp housing without the modules so you can transfer them over as to buy the modules with the headlamp will be expensive

I have been watching your channel for about 2 years now and it wasn’t until this morning that I watched the video you had posted about how it all started. From starting as a pro BMX rider, to working 2 full time jobs; giving up a lot of personal time to achieve your ultimate dream. All I can say is that this has given me the motivation that I have been needing. See, I lost my father almost 2 years ago now and when that occurred…well, I lost my way and I would be lying if I said I have found my purpose again in life. What I can say is that watching the video in which you have your father the green Lamborghini (I believe my memory serves me correctly) I was hooked and I haven’t stopped watching your videos. I guess what I am trying to say is…THANK YOU! You have done more than you will ever know for I crashed my car into a k rail going about 80 mph and I was trying to end the suffering that I was feeling. Well, I ended up completely fine but I lost my car and I haven’t been able to afford one since. So again, I just wanted to say THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME FROM MYSELF AND THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE! Congratulations on all your success and I only hope the utmost success, positivity and future accomplishments for you and your loved ones. I hope that no one sees this comment as seeking pity, instead for just what it is (a background and explanation of my life) because you are more than just a you tube sensation. These are coded to the vehicle which is why the brand new second hand ones didn’t work . Swapping them works or like you said in the video a software update/coding would of also worked . The belts tension to assure loose clothing will be compressed for better function. The spools have control pyro latch for a dual level torque tube. Heavy G crash will leave higher torque part in action longer and then pyro unlatch to let low torque finish. Lower G releases high torque sooner. The spool twisting control gives a small belt reel n out to keep the stopping of your forward motion to a lesser harmful amount. The joke of" falling doesn't hurt you, it's the stop when you hit the ground " is at work with these force limiter belts.

It is utterly incredible how amazing you and this channel are. Your retention rate on KZbin must be so high because I feel compelled to watch the whole video because it's so damn interesting.

Massively impressed with the level of detail and knowledge and how you remember so much. I'd have broken so many parts out of frustration but your patience is top notch. Just getting into your channel but just interested to know are the cars still regarded as write offs when their fixed?

Could you add a section in your videos how you organize screws etc when picking a car apart? Love these series, just started to gain interest in cars again after many years!

I work in insurance bodywork, I recently did a G05 X5 2023 full front bumper and airguide assembly had a nightmare with bmw parts but managed to get it sorted in the end, but point being sometimes it pays off going to a breakers like Synetiq and getting a complete Rad assembly

The head works with it own module. Or you have to program the new one to the car. That's we do in Canada 🇨🇦

Dude, I'm 20min into this vid and there is so much content!!!! Thank you for not spreading it out for 567456 episodes. This is my modern dream car, I'll be following! Also, idk bout the front bumper... I mean, it looks nice, i just think that it looks a little too stretched out.
