Steve, this is the original version from 1994, written for Paddy McCalhum. Even in the video you can watch him playing the drum. Eight years later in 2002, Prefab Sprout performed this song again in a new restored country version included in the album "The Gunman and others histories", because Paddy is the author of the song.

I find this song kind of poignant and sad, the sunny Easter / Summer days of 1995, of people sadly no longer with us. The older man in the end playing the harmonica is a bit of a tear releaser of good old days, those characters are sadly long gone. Beautiful song. I love Jimmy and all the people's of the North of England. Sound, sound people. Here from an Irishman.
