Good video, great video quality and performance! Thanks for sharing w us!

What's interesting to me is that obviously this is only a power boost on one end of 2 way system but because the majority of the data is from the VTX to the VRX that this does seem to have a bigger impact on range than expected by just boosting the power on one end.
@Crunklefloop5 ай бұрын
@MrStevegibb Actually the goggles do increase output too, and it doesn't matter if you're using the V1 goggles, Goggles X or VRX etc. It's true that the tx upstream from the goggles doesn't need anything like as much bandwidth as the video downstream.

Sorry if this is a silly question but how are you getting the VTX power and link quality to show in the OSD? I can only ever see it in the goggles display and it's very hard to see in the corner. nearly impossible.

Is this video from goggles or from vtx recording and was there any post processing involved? The picture is so clear. I never get such an image with my dji v2 and caddx vista nebula pro set up.
@Crunklefloop3 ай бұрын
This is DVR from the goggles. If I use the VTX recording I normally run it though Gyroflow. In terms of footage in the field The DJI V2's are 810p IIRC so slightly lower res than the 1080p OLED's of Walksnail Goggles. I think the nebula pro also runs at 720p against 1080p of Walksnail too.

Thank you. For quite sometime considering to try the WS system. Would you recommend going directly to the avatar X or perhaps try the goggles L?
@Crunklefloop3 ай бұрын
@@src2920 If you're not needing HDMI in/out I would go with the Goggles L as they're nicely made and considerably cheaper than the Goggles X. The stock foam is so-so however you can use aftermarket foam for other Goggles which improves the fit greatly.

Looking really good and this distance at this altitude is very impressive. Any issues with the temp on the vtx? I know it has a fan, just wondered how bad the max power can heat the vtx up.

No issues with overheating whatsoever. It has good ventilation though.

I'm using the goggles x v2 and the walksnail Avatar GT Kit but before I arm I have to be almost on top of the drone or I lose video signal, thought it was a factory defect,got a replacement and it does the same. Have you had any issues like this?
@Crunklefloop5 күн бұрын
@HowardPhillips46 this is normal for the GT. When not armed it goes into a low power mode (which is much lower than the othwr VTXs due tonl the GT having internal ceramic antennas). When armed you'll have full power and excellent performance.
@HowardPhillips465 күн бұрын
@Crunklefloop I appreciate the information I've been afraid to use it,my moonlight Kit doesn't do that so yeah I was worried. Thanks I feel better knowing that it's normal

@HowardPhillips46 I understand, I was a bit surprised at first too. But yes, completely normal. I hope you enjoy the GT VTX as much as I do :-)

So you are at 8000 meters and you tx says 25 mw? Why is it not showing more?
@CrunklefloopАй бұрын
@MasterYota1 The 25mw is showing the transmit power from the eLRS module. I've got it set on dynamic so it will increase the output as needed. You can see sometimes it jumps up a bit. 25mw can travel much further than many realise.

I see that the Avatar GT has a rated input voltage of at least 11.1v. I assume you sometimes run you battery pack below that. Do you have any experience with how it behaves? Brownout? Degraded signal strength? Can it be damaged by it?
@Crunklefloop3 ай бұрын
@frumargo I'm using 4S and powering the VTX off Vbat. So it doesn't dip below 11.1V You won't damage it, however it's likely to just shut down below 11.1v

try max mbps mode , full range one way with good altitude !! would have been nice to know what this system can do with goggles only. my dji 03 unit can do easy 23.4 km ONE way with single crosshair true rc antennas , and i guess this 03 is 1,2W . in theory this gt system should do easy 40 km with goggles only. great flight btw.
@Crunklefloop5 ай бұрын
@christianmong-hansen1835 Yes, I've already flown this 40km with goggles on a different plane, but I had to climb higher. In this test flight, I wanted to see what it was like at lower altitudes, though. The O3 system is rated at 33dBm which is the same as this Walksnail VTX. Sadly DJI put a hard limit into their software though so they'll never manage the range of Walksnail. Already this system has been flown 55km on stock VTX antennas.
@christianmong-hansen18355 ай бұрын
@@Crunklefloop are you serious ? so you did 40 km with goggles on your face ? NO ground station ?? thats awesome ! , yes your 10 km low altitude flight was also great, signal was super stable, yeah but the 55 km was on a "light" ground station with huge antennas.

I have never been able to turn on the 2w setting. That setting is not available in my goggles menu, and I can't find any information on his to make it happen. And walksnail customer service is just plain non-existent. I'll never buy another walksnail product again.
@Crunklefloop2 ай бұрын
@WeTrudgeOn you need to flash firmware version 38.43.4 or higher on the Goggles/VRX to display the 2W power. You'll also need to have performed the FCC power unlock if you haven't already.
@WeTrudgeOn2 ай бұрын
@Crunklefloop Is that firmware available on the walksnail site? I have no idea how to do the power unlock. The application is a surface vehicle in the middle of nowhere, so there will be no bleed over issues.
@Crunklefloop2 ай бұрын
@WeTrudgeOn there's a newer version out now, it's available here. caddxfpv.com/pages/download-center Note that there's also the FCC unlock procedure instructions there too. It just includes saving a file named avatar_pwr.txt onto the SD card.
