I wonder if I'm one of the few people who knows who Mason Williams is: a brilliant composer/singer most famous for "Classical Gas" (me and Jo Anne Worley) Anyone else? I even have his record (yes vinyl).

Of course. A Billboard hit that was one of those few songs that broke genre barriers and payed on stations that even my parents listened to as well as on the rock stations. The name should have been widely recognized.

This is the second time they broke their own rule of the head-to-head , that must be an “EXACT” match. The other time was a singular v. a plural .

Definitely Wheel Of Fortune would have not accepted that; even though Match Game judge’s rulings were wildly inconsistent at least they weren’t overly strict like the “and” some would include on a “Wheel Of Fortune” puzzle solve and then not get credit for solving it!

H/H match update Spoiler alert ****** Richard garnered his 40th H/H match today, briefly putting him at 33.1%, just a hair's breadth behind Bert Convy in accuracy, but his second attempt today saw him fall back a little bit again. I'm still hoping someone will choose Jo Anne Worley this week - she's got two H/H matches already, and a third will move her to the leader board! Here's the updated leader board for the 7 celebs to have scored 3 or more H/H matches so far, ranked by their current accuracy scores: Orson - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Betty - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 46.7% (7 wins out of 15 attempts). Charles - 44% (11 wins in 25 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). Richard - 32.8% (40 wins in 122 attempts). Brett - 28.6% (6 wins in 21 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 268, excluding the lost/missing episodes 31, 32, 33.

Mason Williams certainly should have been on that list! And I don't care if Brett knows him or not. That ignorant woman didn't know who Patrick Henry or Henry Ford were in earlier episodes! She has less general knowledge than the average flatworm. "Classical Gas" hit high on the charts in 68 or 69, as I recall, and received airplay on stations of just about every format: rock, easy listening, adult contemporary, etc.
