Amazing! This contestant and Joyce were obviously on the same wavelength! -- I've been watching from the first episode, and I don't recall any other contestant getting the maximum winnings 3 games in a row. -- Side note, the first thing I though of was a "bunch of bull" (+/- the "s" word), but then I decided I'd better play it safe and say grapes!

Marcia was somewhat shortchanged in the goodby department by time constraints. They were coming up against the clock and since it was the end of the week, Gene needed a few extra seconds to preview the galaxy of stars who would appear next time. But I doubt she was too heartbroken after her major winnings haul!

@@ts.elliot5870 yes but the panelists were hardly major celebrities. Often the more famous ones were just there for one taping session to plug a new network show, kind of like doing a late night show appearance. The less famous ones were probably thinking of the PR exposure. I doubt they were paid much. They do have a minimum according to the SAG rules or something. Brett Sommers hardly has any acting credits other than TV series appearances, so this was a good gig for her.

Well this was an interesting week for H/H matches! Unlike most recent weeks, Richard was *not* the go-to celebrity chosen. Joyce Bulifant was chosen 3 times -- and incredibly matched all three of them, so now she moves up to the big leader board in a tie with Orson for a perfect score. Obviously though, with such scant data, that accuracy score is less significant, but the fact is clear: Joyce is a sharp player and perfectly capable of coming up with a winning answer for the head-to-head match. But as we've seen in the past, there's no guarantee that Joyce will be selected again any time soon -- Orson has been on the panel a week or two since his earlier matches without ever being selected again, and even Betty White can go a week or two without being chosen by a contestant. Fannie also has an excellent record based on 13 attempts, but wasn't chosen again this week... Anyway, here's the updated leader board showing the *10* celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: TIE: Orson Bean - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Betty - 54.2% (13 wins in 24 attempts). Fannie - 46.2% (6 wins in 13 attempts). Charles - 45.7% (16 wins in 35 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 34.6% (63 wins in 182 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). Brett - 32.1% (9 wins in 28 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 380, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")

Brett: Didn't you used to be (NYC) Mayor LaGuardia? Gary: Didn't you used to be Charlie Ruggles? (A comic American character actor. In a career spanning six decades, Ruggles appeared in close to 100 feature films). Fred MacMurray was an American actor and singer who appeared in more than 100 films and a successful television series during a career that spanned nearly a half-century, from 1930 to the 1970s. (Not sure what Fanny's reference means, maybe he had a squeaky clean image but was self-absorbed in real life). Farley Granger was an American actor, best known for his two collaborations with director Alfred Hitchcock. Raymond Burr as Chief Ironside, a consultant for the SFPD, who was paralyzed from the waist down after being shot while on vacation. (quite a cruel joke by Richard there, and it may have affected the answers).
