He's a great panelist! A mix of reasonable answers and crazy ones. He's very likeable too. I'm glad that he'll be back for a total of 8 weeks. Brett sure had it right when she gave him the "Dick Martin Award" for answering "Skin" remover to the Ugly Edna question!

H/H match update: ... ~~~Today's action: Our champ quickly defeats her new challenger, winning her third game. *Today's audience match question: "_**_______** Papa"* (My thoughts: Oh My, Grand, Big) - I'm seriously drawing a big blank here! All my suggestions sound lousy! The celebs: Charles (Mama and), Brett (Oh My), Patti (Grand) The choice: Oh My The answers: Grand, Mama and, Oh My (Well, I guess my suggestions weren't too lousy. Now I think it's the question that was lousy!) Second time in a row she's picked the top answer. It's also the second time in a row that she didn't choose Richard for a suggestion. But I still expect her to choose him for the head-to-head, given they matched last time. (Her initial go at the Super-Match ended in audience match failure, so she lost that first H/H attempt.) She says she has to go with Richard, because she always matches with him on television. That's a reasonable rationale. (But does she ever see anyone else play the head-to-head, I wonder?) This is now King Richard's ninth consecutive time to answer the H/H question. He's also on quite the hot streak, having matched the past three in a row! Stats: Richard has matched 119 of his 271 most recent attempts (43.9%), 58 of his last 131 attempts (44.3%), 39 of his last 87 attempts (44.8%), and 11 of his past 23 attempts (47.8%). His overall success rate is *42.4%* and this is his 749th attempt so far. For the sake of comparison: Patti has matched 1 of her 2 attempts (50.0%), Charles has matched 34 of his 70 attempts (48.6%), Richard has matched 317 of his 748 attempts (42.4%), and Brett has matched 30 of her 71 attempts (42.3%). Neither David Doyle nor Juliet Prowse has yet had a shot at a H/H question. *Today's H/H question: "Best of________"* (This sounds oddly familiar. It seems like there are two good answers: Best of Times and Best of Luck. I'll go with Luck.) Richard quickly files his answer, and this time he doesn't seem to look toward Patti or Juliet. (He typically tends to at least glance at whoever is in that sixth seat, and often seems to reading their suggestions.) Our champ gives the predicted answer, receiving encouragement from the audience. Our H/H king makes it unanimous today. "Luck" (Best of Everything and Best of Friends were two more suggestions that came up.) Richard scores his 318th H/H match today. ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts). Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts). Charles - 48.6% (34 wins in 70 attempts). Fannie - 48.4% (15 wins in 31 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 42.5% (318 wins in 749 attempts). Brett - 42.3% (30 wins in 71 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1112, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. *Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. (These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. Note: There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036.)

Why doesn't Charles applaud Gene Rayburn's entrance? He's always doing this, usually looking away. Even Richard Dawson, who by this time wanted out of the series, courteously applauds Gene's entrance.

It actually was a way of showing solidarity with their homeland and culture. To joke, was more an indication of friendly solidarity with the lesser of their countrymen.
