Well said Steve. Both clubs gain. We get the win and the Premiership points and showed we still want it winning comfortable enough as we were expected to. You got the benefit of putting it up to the premiers til three quarter time and getting to play in a real finals like athmosphere against a huge mostly hostile crowd. Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if your mob were close enough to top 8 this year. I don't expect it but it wouldn't be a shock.

Am I the only one who is seeing a pretty obvious colour clash between these 2 teams? Why is it okay for Carlton and Richmond to both wear dark coloured jumpers whenever they play each other but Richmond were forced to wear a yellow jumper instead of their usual black jumper in last year's Grand Final against Adelaide? AFL, please explain, as there is still obviously work to be done about being consistent with who can wear what jumper against who in the event of obvious colour clashes. Hopefully my comments about the jumper clash take nothing away from what was a pretty good game of football.

I personally had no problems with the outfits as a possible colour clash, those Carlton shorts stood out like dogs balls, now if Carlton had their traditional shorts then yeah, much more of an colour clash. As far as the Grand Final is concerned I was so glad Richmond went along with the yellow guernsey/white shorts, I personally don't like it but the game is so quick these days I don't want players making identity mistakes because the outfits are colour clashing, imo the Crows/Tigers is more of a clash than Blues/Tigers mainly because of the Yellow in both guernsey's. As far as AFL consistency is concerned I personally think all teams should have an proper away team guernsey that is white, tradition and "brand" should be thrown out the window for this particular subject, I only think this because the game is getting so fast, 30 years ago none of this was a problem. Yes, was a pretty good game of Football, especially the first half and third quarter, only thing I didn't like is the silly 50 metre penalties for approaching within 10 metres of an marked player, I mean sure penalise them if they interfere and stop the flow of the game.

As far as participants (at all levels) are concerned I'm pretty sure Cricket would be a fair bit higher, there's far less competition from other sports in Summer, far more female participants and children playing Cricket. When it comes to spectators and money involved then Australian football would be king from a great height imo.

Richmond had 2 more free kicks in the end so the play was even and fair. 90% of Richmond supporters are saying that they can go back to back already and the fact that you put on a terrible show for a team who expects to go back to back already is sorta embarrassing for Richmond supporters because you guys are so cocky. 19 behinds deserve to lose. That’s why my team Hawthorn lost the 2012 granny. We kicked so many behind so we deserved to lose. Yet Carlton were gifted four goals from 50s with the players moving about the field in the same way that was acceptable last year. One of them was even paid against a player that was moving away from the mark (what you're supposed to do) and was explicitly holding his hands up to indicate that he wasn't going to get involved. The umpiring was awful like it always is.

Black Gate of Mordor Firstly, it’s 2018 not 2017, Richmond should have learned the 2018 rules, and that player you mentioned had plenty of time to turn and go the other way before the blues player moved backwards, he took the risk and cost his whole team. Bad luck, it’s not being “gifted” goals it’s called being an undisciplined team.

The 2018 rules are exactly the same as the 2017 rules mate, the AFL didn't change them for once. You've got no clue what you're talking about. He was 10-15m away from the mark and moved towards the wing after it was taken to get out of Curnow's way, and it was only with Curnow moving back so fast that he was inside the 10m area. Hands up, moving away, not even looking towards the ball, you'd think the umpires would use a bit of common sense and think that he's trying to get out as fast as he can - the mark was only taken two seconds prior. Not to mention that Carlton infringed like this multiple times too.
