Paul, Thanks for this very interesting special revue of the 70s with Dennis. So many great players, teams, moments and memories! Fine work in providing this series to us.

I'm from the USA * my mom is from Manchester! I have been across the pond many times ! I remember going to some matches as a kid ! I always new that the Brits were the best football players in the world! That's why every 4 years I have been rooting for them in the world cup ! Even when they play the USA * 100% ! Miss those days ! And speedway at Bellevue was Awsome ! Got to back soon ! Great videos ** thanks !

Emlyn Hughes' comments on there would never be a period of domination by one club like Liverpool had from the mid 70s to the mid 80s again aged real well. Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United say hi Emlyn 👋...

Great days, players played with passion and pride for their clubs. Look at the size of the crowds. Most modern day players have little loyalty to their clubs.

Hello. I only have the Match of The 70s series. There were a few episodes made of a 'Match of the 80s', presented by Danny Baker, but I lost the tape. I do aim to upload all the 70s ones complete, but one particular copyright holder (UEFA) is constantly blocking the entire videos, just because of tiny snippets of European matches being shown within them, and it's a pain having to then block the offending parts out, and then re-uploading them.
@chrisbenson16565 жыл бұрын
@@paulmagicflute thanks for reply. Shame about the European clips. My 7 year old son has started watching the 1970/71 episode this morning, I'm educating him!
@paulmagicflute5 жыл бұрын
@@chrisbenson1656 The strange thing is, you can find entire European matches on KZbin, which users have uploaded, untouched by UEFA's copyright claims. I don't understand how KZbin works though, in that regard. Showed these videos to my 7 year old as well! Obviously even 10 years ago seems like ancient history to a 7 year old, let alone 40+. I wish the BBC would repeat this series, as it would be good to record it in better quality. I'm not holding my breath though.

I was a Manchester Utd schoolboy of the 1970s, and my God if wish Terry McDermott played for my team instead of the bitter reds of Anfield. Guy was a genius on the ball. Don't give any shit about football was better and more skilful in today's game, you clearly hadn't lived in the era of the swaggering 70s. Every team had an outrageously gifted footballer.

Football hooliganism was used as a safety valve by the establishment. Just imagine if all that working class anger and organisation had gone into left wing politics! Once you got to the late 1980's and Communism was no longer a threat, and capitalism could see a way of making loads of money out of football through broadcasting it was clamped down on.
