Match Play with NBA Legend James Worthy (EAL's Lowest Round EVER)

With the NBA Finals around the corner, it makes perfect sense to check in with Los Angeles Lakers legend and NBA Hall of Famer James Worthy. Known for his trademark goggles on the court, Big Game James dominated for the Lakers in the '80s and '90s, and is known as one of the best 50 basketball players EVER.
Erik Anders Lang got the chance to link up with James for a round in LA recently, and let's just say the day was special. Whatever kind of zen Erik tapped into on the course with James is the kind of stuff you want to bottle up, stick in your bag, and take with you when you leave the course...because Erik was able to put together the best round of his entire life. I'm playing Heron Lakes Portland OR with my son. I'm even thru 6 (we played just 9) he's -1. I go +7 (43) on the final 3 holes. He went +2 final 2 holes (37). He looks at me and say "you suck". Last week I redeemed my self and shot a 39.

Best episode yet. I was literally nervous that something would happen, and EAL would come off the rails, because it's happened to me twice. 3 and 4 under with 3 to play, and didn't even shoot par! At 61, it's getting tougher and tougher, but it's still a life goal. Let's GO!

Great round. I had a similar experience. Previous best was a 75. Played a match with 3 others, one over through six then went six under through six holes en route to a 68. So happy I told my competitors to keep their money, I wanted the scorecard. Wasn't juggling a film crew and an interview with an nba hall of famer.

I had 5 birds last week playing a tough course that's in moderate shape. Had two chip ins from about 12-15 feet on 16-17, one from a shirt sided bunker. The very next hole I sunk a 25 footer for bird. I was definitely, "In The Zone" I doubled 18, a par 5 that's always a tough hole for me and shot a 79. It was a confident booster and since than I've shot 80s or better. 🍻🙌🏻 never had 5 birds and definitely never had back, to back, to back birds. Thanks E.

1 handicap here, lived along the property line of Hillcrest for over a year and never stepped foot on the course….just about sums up this sport. Closed, insular, off-limits, Bushwood.

@@golfinguru11 yep - I lived in LA for 7 years and it’s just about the worst city for public golf. Minimal local options and have to drive forever to find good golf. They need to make 1-2 of those private courses in the city into semi-privates like we have in NorCal.
