This one looks fantastic. Excellent job on the repair of the base too. The paint match also turned out wonderfully. That model of Impala is one of my favourite cars Chevrolet made back in the day. As a kid a neighbour had one in red. Such a gorgeous automobile.

Thanks! I rather not have to repair the base, but it turned out fine 😊

9:32 - looks like you had to repair the vertical window pillar as well. Nice job. Care must be taken to warm the glass jar, just with some hot tap water, before using boiling water. I've had a jar crack from thermal shock before spilling boiling water and glass shards over my bare feet. lesson definitely learnt.

Great job. I think by cleaning up the body with a soft metal brush was a masterstroke. It made the final paint job look excellent and the best finish of any matchbox restoration video I have seen. You should use this technique it as often as possible

The pens screw apart. This is so you can use the Molotaw refill on them. For larger areas I airbrush the Molotaw chrome paint. It lays down a little thinner and dries faster. Tip, use 91% isopropyl alcohol to clean your airbrush.

looks good but a huge detail I noticed immediately was, when you put the axles back on, you should have put the the original ends that hold the tire on, on the same side of the car. instead you put one original end/tip and then one of of yours - so when looking at one side you can tell something was modified since the end/tips are different sizes.
@MatchboxRestoration5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The axle ends look different in size originally too. I try to make the small ends look like they came from the factory. They aren’t suppose to have the same size. Also, if you look at different models, the axles seem to be put on rather randomly at the factory too.
