Another good restoration. Looks like you had your hands full with that one.

Always good to hear your additional information and also to recognize the challenges of taps and some pain takes a three stage process to remove. i suppose it could give us a chance to red colour match if required. but you said from the start you were going black. Good Job.

What an amazing transformation of a classic Mercedes. I had a model in the OG colour scheme, white with a blue interior. It was well played with but never as abused as the model you started with.

great work! love the wheels especially, there is even the AMG logo on them. ^^ and let's not forget the Koenig Specials. they went like, you want it, we'll build it. they were infamous for testarossa-style body kits on a convertible with widest wheels ever and a full-size top of the tops stereo built into the dashboard... at a time when miniaturizing was more sci-fi. but they did it. some of these machines are still around somewhere; so it seems they did quality work, too.

Great restoration of a fantastic model car. The 560SEC is one of my all time favorite Mercedes cars 😁👍👍

Whenever I think of that model, it's always in black. Was told the old school machinist, use wax for drilling and tapping, instead of oil. 😀👍

What a transformation Jason. Love what you have done, particularly the wheel swap. Always very fond of these Mercedes. Was going to purchase these Matchbox versions many times back in the day, but those stupid tampo decals put me off over & over again. So, good to see you finished this beauty print free. All in all top quality. Keep er lit ya boy ye!

Very nice resto! Regarding the yellowed window piece, why not try making a small hydrogene peroxide vapour chamber? It is quite inexpensive, very effective and one of the least harsh methods to do retrobrighting, since you do not need to immerse the part into the solution.
@DieCastRestos Жыл бұрын
Yes I did consider this. It’s a great method that I’ve used before, but the piece itself was badly scratched and I just felt the extra work at the time wouldn’t produce any greater results. If I did it again I likely would do it though! Thanks for the message 👍🏻

I have been looking for the Mercedes AMG 5 spoke rims but have only found them on the DCM Mercedes 500 SEL complete model. I looked on your web site and couldn't find them either. Do you have a source for them?
@DieCastRestos Жыл бұрын
Yes the Waltonstyle website is having an overhaul at the moment. Try www.c1-models.com/c164wheelstore or the Diecast Details Shop on Facebook

Great job buddy! You can remove the yellowing of the windows w hydrogen peroxide and a uv light. I learned how to do nice headlights by watching Jakarta diecast do his...check his work out if you haven't already...thanks for your well researched info too

I heard you mention Rob in your video when the "piece" snapped off in the hole. Any idea what happened to Rob and why he doesn't post videos?
@DieCastRestos Жыл бұрын
Diecast Media Network did an interview with him a few months back. It’s just a time thing for him judging by his answers. Lots going on life. Making these videos takes up a big chunk of your time!

The car looks brilliant. Just the windscreen holding it back a bit. All the other details are awesome though.
@thierrymilan2039 Жыл бұрын
You did a lot of restauration work and it's look certainly better than what it was. Unfortunately, black color on this small scaled Mercedes don't give a good render of the body lines, it would be way better with a black/grey or a metallic steel blue. You should have a very good render with polishing the windows for a clear shiny effect. The wheels are awesome and the details at the end are the cherry on the cake. Good job 👍 I would add that I drove a real 420 SEC AMG with Carlsson wheels and it was comfortable and fast (+250 km/h)
@robertdragoff6909 Жыл бұрын
Good job as always, but I would’ve gone for a brighter color so the details could have stood out better… You could have given the windows a light tint to make up for the discoloration….
@DieCastRestos Жыл бұрын
Yes I did consider white but I find that these look so good in black, it was the only colour for me!
