I agree, I'm not a fan of the amount he has used in the past, less is more. This is much better.

We've a couple of those bonnie wee beasties - one in Metallic red, the other in a metallic light green. Have had them since the early-'80s.

One of the better ones ive seen! It just needs a caravan attached! Wheels look spot on 👍🏻

Beautiful model Jason. Always loved the boxy era of British Fords including the Granada too. Perhaps the Matchbox designer had a holiday in Scotland before returning to work on the model's numberplate.

Stunning Art. The Vehicle history and general dialogue is so great. You make us all feel better Jason. My favourite restorer. Best regards, Tommy in Dublin🌠.

I agree that the highlighting was over done on your models, but they are yours and you should build them the way you want them to look. The history that you share with us is great and well worth watching your videos, whether we agree with your style or not.

What a beautiful custom and restoration! The model looks great and I like the vinyl roof simulated with the black spray paint. I like the Nuln Oil on all of your restorations but the black paint pen for the trim was great idea. Thanks for sharing this.

Very nice, my dad had a 2.0S MK4 so I've customised one of these as a tribute. One thing I've found works well for me is using a wooden toothpick dipped in paint to do details like badges and number plates

Wish I could comment photos on here. I have a gold mk5 cortina as my actual car and made one of these the same as mine. Same wheels and fog lights made of bits of match stick. Even wrote the cortina sticker I have across the back window on it

a little enhancing doesn't hurt. :) love the colour choice. :) at first I thought it'd gonna end up signal green; my first car was a 1977 Taunus wagon, with green interior. shouldn't have put it to the yard... the casting with the doors shut also came with opaque windows and white interior as glow-in-the-dark, but it seems to have been a final run, and a short-lived one, too. dunno what Matchbox' mission was with the opaque windows to begin with. good thing there was a series of those with white transparencies, often painted plain red. you were correct comparing the Cortina Mk1 to the german Taunus P4/P6 types with front wheel drive, as they filled the same niche. german P5/P7 models would sire the Granada later. meanwhile, Argentina build the Mk3 Cortina until the late 70's, skipping the Mk4, and then switching to the Mk5. which also came in a fastback version. the top version was called GT P5 and came with the Pinto's 2.3 OHC under the hood. some 4-5 of these made their way to europe, saw one in mid-90's, with lot's of airbrush and dutch license plates. :) an argentinian toy company made models looking a lot like Matchbox, and they of course did one of the GT P5... I could snatch one for cheap because the seller didn't know how utterly rare they are here. and it needs some tending, too. :P

Excellent work. As a boy, I had ( and probably still have somewhere) a green and a red example of this. One thing that always really bugged me about that casting was the weird ppsitioning of the front number plate - it should be on the bumper, not stuck away diwn at the bottom of the front valance!

You can paint the number plate with black first, and then add white on it with a smaller pen or a brush. That will give the best result for the outlines of number plate. Love your works 🔥

Nice one Jason. You have done to this casting what Matchbox should have done back in the day, after all it's a Cortina - a popular car. Little trivia for you and your subscribers etc - did you know the mk3 Cortina was the first car in Britain designed and built on the then new metric system.😮 Keep er lit ya boy ye
