I see from watching these older videos that you were great then and also improved on yourself to even greater.

Also, In this video I believe you opined that it was quite simple and not for more experienced jewelry makers, but I beg to differ. I've been making jewelry for many years and yes, I know the techniques. But what makes it worth watching are the design ideas and techniques used. I'm always game for learning new techniques and ideas. Bring it on!

Hi, Luisa, I watched this video earlier in the year, but it was before I knew that commenting helped the KZbinr's standing. I'm re-watching some of your videos, and so will be commenting as I go. I'd love to help your algorithms as much as I can. I love these bracelets as well as the necklace they were meant to complement. I can totally back up your statement that better crimps are key. I used to buy all my findings at Hobby Lobby when they were half-price. I got so frustrated with myself because my crimps kept breaking and I figured I was doing something wrong, though I couldn't figure out what. I thought that getting them right must surely come down to planets being in alignment and holding my mouth just right. Then, I think I was watching Sarah Oehler when she questioned if people were having problems with their crimps breaking. I answered with a resounding yes that startled all the pets. I bought on amazon the crimps she recommended (Beadsmith) and I've never looked back. I was free to crimp joyfully no matter the position of the planets or my mouth. Huzzah! It was a game-changer, to be sure. My mom always loved all kinds of jewelry, from emeralds to big wooden tribal beads. But as she aged and her arthritis took over the helm, she really appreciated the elastic bracelets. I could make them for her in elegant gemstones all the way to earthy, less expensive gemstones and wooden beads. So, while elastic bracelets may be thought of by some pretentious jewelry makers as being for kids, I would beg to differ. They can be quite beautiful, like yours. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for this tutorial Luisa! I finally understand why some of my necklaces and bracelets don't feel right. I've been attaching my beads randomly on my chains instead of having all of them hanging down. I thought it was because the chains were twisted. Now I see what the problem is and can fix them. Thanks again!

I am learning so much on your channel. I have a big neck, I'm a plus sized woman with a goiter so 18 is choker sized on me but I know if I'm going to sell or gift my jewelry I need to make them various sizes and you gave me a good starter size telling your size. I hear a man who is a great jewelry maker always say he's making 12 inch necklaces because he thinks that would be the average sized because a person's neck is twice the size of their wrists. I have slender wrists, 7 1/2 on one and 7 on the other, I don't think I would be able to wear much of his jewelry though it's very nice. I love your designs by the way, they are a stylish professional woman's dream. Keep up the great work

Hi Luisa Wow, that amazonite is just beautiful and you have created such amazing designs. I love the idea of having both choker and larger piece being separated. Very versatile. I have never seen crimps used with stretchy cord, what a great idea. I am always nervous about the old way of tying knots to secure, so this will be my new method. Thank you Luisa..we recently shared a conversation about the horrific fires in Australia, well now it is raining cats and dogs right down the east coast. Talk about a land of contrasts. Keep well dear Luisa and thank you for sharing your amazing talent. Kindest regards from Aussie Jen x

Jenny Russo Hi Jen! I’m so glad the fire situation is resolved and it’s raining but I know what you mean about weather extremes. I remember experiencing some of that growing up in Brisbane but we certainly didn’t have the horrendous fires back then 🙁. I hope the fires are over for most of Australia. About the crimps...give it a try. I’ve had pretty good luck with them. Just make sure you use thick stretch cord and good quality crimp beads. Crimp it down really well and it should make the bracelet pretty secure. Good seeing your message my friend. ❤️

Lisa Shank Hi Lisa. Yes! It seems like everyone is sold out now, including Pandahall 🙁. I did look around and found a rose quartz option on Etsy. I think I found Labradorite as well but no Amazonite unfortunately. I’ll keep checking and if they restock, I’ll do a community post.

I have always been taught you should use a knot on the stretch bracelets. I have wanted to use the crimp and cover, but people get all crazy saying they will cut the elastic. Have you ever had that problem because I personally think the crimp/cover looks more finished and would love to start doing it your way. Thanks for your videos love them and your kitty cat, she is beautiful.
@MistyMoonDesigns4 жыл бұрын
luckystamper I’ve done them both ways and they seem to perform the same. I think, as long as you use a thick stretch cord, you should be okay. Most of the time stretch bracelets break because the wearer doesn’t take care of them, or they get moisture or sweat on them which can deteriorate the elastic. Of course, eventually they all break with time...no matter which method you use. Just make sure you use thick stretch cord, and then crimp the bead really well and you should be okay. 🙂
@luckystamper4 жыл бұрын
Misty Moon Designs thank you I use the heavier elastic like you so I am going to try the crimp method, I think it looks nicer.

Extremely interesting closing a stretch bracelet with a crimp bead. Have you ever had problems with this method - for example that the elastic cord got smashed by the crimp bead? I have to try that as I never really trusted my knots. Elastic bracelets here I come.......😀
@MistyMoonDesigns4 жыл бұрын
A vJ My experience with stretch bracelets has been the same whether I use the crimp or knot method. I think as long as you use a thick stretch cord and good quality crimp beads, you should be okay. Just make sure you crimp it down real good. Of course, all stretch bracelets fail with time due to deterioration of the stretch cord which happens no matter what. Good luck! 🙂

You’ve given a lot of great information and advice in this video - it is greatly appreciated so thank you for that! I have the same stretchy cord as you - I’m thinking it was in a subscription box? I haven’t used it yet because I wasn’t sure what a good way to secure it was, but I like the crimping idea. What is a good length for stretch bracelets? That’s something else I was unsure of. I love the choker - it’s so beautiful and dainty! Thank you for sharing! 💜 ***Editing to say that I wrote it before I saw the very end of the video where you said it’s 6 1/2”. Sorry for jumping the gun on that!!
