There is a fluidity there that is mesmerizing. I don't see the decision making, it is like he is flowing down the mountain. Every twist, turn and flip feels predetermined and spontaneous at the same time.

As far as big mountain skiers go ....... absolutely off the charts! I grew up watching the likes of Scott Schmidt and Glen Plake open our eyes to a whole new level of skiing. This was the first time I've seen Sam ski and my mind is absolutely blown away. The same way I was when I watched those guys tear up Squaw and Jackson Hole.

No one charges like Candide, this kid is out of this world amazing and his flow looks so effortless- no doubt one of the best out there but Candide is still the GOAT.

it's such an unhelpful, divisive title. What a shame after an amazing video. Very big jumps! Very impressive. When i see his videos in future I know they will be great. With a title like this you force me to think of the racers who finished the Kitzbuhel downhill last weekend with a 85m, 145kph jump where the wind was trying to push their skies over their head, or underneath them, like unfortunately happened to Urs Kryenbühl. I'm going to vote for Shiffrin... Multiple Olympic gold medallist and world champion... has won world cup events in all 6 racing disciplines - slalom, giant slalom, downhill, super-G, combined, and parallel slalom. 17 wins in a season.... more to come. So yes, great video, silly title. Please post more, with different titles! Edit: I was too grumpy. MSP have been making amazing ski videos for decades, and a lot of the time people could / did watch them without paying... so if they want to do some clickbait here and get more views, I think they deserve it. Wow, a really amazing free skier. Is Sam the best skier in the world? I think he would have to prove himself more to achieve that pedestal. Beating the Marcel Hirscher's of the world would not be easy, and a slalom or GS course has no powder after 100 other guys go down it first.

Thing is, this is a subjective thing. It's not like a race, where there is a clear winner. To me it's about the healthy competition of people pushing each other to new levels. Kuch is clearly a guy pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Amazing flow and talent. Definitely next level riding but sorry, this kid doesn’t charge anywhere near as hard as the GOAT Candide Thorvex. Close but all I could think watching his silky smooth moves was how much harder Candide would stomp most of those lines.

Correct. But Sam is probably almost if not totally equal, At least when it comes to freestyle. I have never seen candide pull such dramatic 3's and 7's off such gnarly terrain. Sam is at the top as well.

Bunch of haters on here living in the past. Ive watched a shit load of ski videos, edits, movies etc. and there is a lot of insane skiers out there. This guy though pulls off a trick on basically every feature he encounters and I havent seen a lot of guys doing that. Sure they can all do the same tricks and land it, but this is different. Id put him close to the top 3. I would still put Candid at number one though. That guy is just unreal.

Still its NOT best extreme skiers. Thise titles go to Seth Morrisons, Chris Davenport, Kent Kreitlers, David Swanwicks, Mckonkey, doug combs days. These new freestyle champs change every year meaning their not doing anything elute. Seth Morrisons 2as able to get 2nd at US extreme skiing comp 5 years in a row on gnarly icy , choppy , double diamonds on single tip, 215 skinny racing skis and still launch and stick some nasty shit thats a goat, not a one or two year powder aerialist champ, that competes only on perfect powder

In terms of raw ski technique, the athletes who compete at the FIS Alpine World Cup level are the best.... IMO. Having said that, they couldn't do what this guy does. Simply out of this world. I would say he's one of the best big mountain freeride skiers in the world without a doubt, but to call him the "best skier" is not accurate.

Candide is still a clear GOAT... Sam Kuch could definitely be the best in a few years considering he's 21 though. Currently Candide is number 1, and then the next level involves Sam Kuch, Duncan Adams, Sean Petit(if he still skied LOL), Sammy C, Markus Eder. There are definitely others who are near that level and some old boys who are either retired or still nearly at that level. And Kai Jones will be near this level in 4-6 years considering he's going as big as half the pros out there at 15.

I get the title had to fit with the storyline. Thing is, there's so many talents out there in free skiing. Leah Evans, Stan Rey, Alexi Godbout, Josh Daiek, Drew Petersen, Nick McNutt, Tom Wallisch, Ian McIntosh, etc...Perhaps "Quit your day job" would have been a better title. Images are stunning, editing is superb, and music fits well.

Hmm. I hear what you're saying, but I kind of like this bold title. I thought it might be divisive, but it draws in more viewers to a sport that - I'm sure you'd agree - should garner more attention, given the remarkable athleticism and fearlessness of every skier who can peak over a cliff and see a place to land. The title ends in a question mark, not a period, so it's not a proclamation. It asks for an opinion. It gives us the opportunity to not only appreciate the other-worldly skills of Sam but to also consider the whole spectrum and pay tribute to other skiers who inspire us (Ingrid, Angel, Elyse, the Blonds, Sarah (RIP), Tatum, Michelle, Maude, the Pehotas, Parkin, Cole, the Herminator, Mongolian skiers who make their own skis and skins). Like you say, there's is so much amazing talent, some that will never get discovered. MSP could have narrowed the scope to "Is this the best male freeskier of 2020 between the age of 20 and 25?" or called it "Quit your day job", but then we may not have clicked through to have this conversation to give shout-outs to all the cyborgs we've just listed. I agree; stunning work on all accounts. Big ups to MSP and 'the talent'.

Best skier I've ever seen, absolutely no question. The Olympics and X-Games (although I love them both), this guy doesn't need them. What does Jean-Claude have to say? If he doesn't recognize a better skier than he, then... Kuch is better than Killy was on his best day, though at this point there are plenty of skiers better than Killy ever was.
