Mark Felice the past few years I've been doing the opposite: I've spent a lot of time exploring the north of Italy, and this winter I'm going to start in Naples and work my way down and around Sicily. I was in Sicily for a few weeks about ten years ago, but without a rental car, which limited my experience. I just listened to The Godfather, with its description of Sicily, which piqued my interest in going back. I see you've done a bunch of videos there, so I'll check them out for sure.

That place is SO interesting, I loved every minute of it. Mark are you both being "cameramen"? Wow the food and wine, that bruschetta, everything looks enticingly delicious. Going on the trek to find your dinner place was but a few steps from your hotel, I always say getting lost is integral to making HAPPY memories :) This was delightful, thanks so much! Btw we received the v-neck t-shirt and my dh loves it, he feels very "european" and exotic wearing it!

How did you learn to drive in such a foreign country..and know the rules?
@EuroTrotter5 жыл бұрын
Great questions....driving wasn't the hard part...knowing that there are traffic cameras everywhere especially on freeways and that speed limits change almost every 100 feet at time was a lot to get used to...after getting way too many tickets, you learn real quick LOL
@ted.angell76095 жыл бұрын
Driving isn't too hard in Italy. Just remember 1) when you see a sign that says FISCALIZZAZIONE ELETTRONICA there is a camera ahead and if you are going 1km over you will get a ticket in the mail at your home overseas 8-9 months later; never mind what you see the black and gray Audis doing. 2) When you park, you are being watched and ticketed just as assiduously. 3) No matter how fast you are driving, you will be tailgated. 4) On the freeway they have an annoying habit of straddling two lanes and blocking your lane without actually committing to using it. 5) In the traffic circles, whoever is already in the circle has the right of way.

Ahah hi Mark, no my friend this Is a step too further for me :) anyway you do a great job in describing my country, i really enjoy It! Buy next time, go and visit the North of Italy too! My region, Lombardia, is known overall for industries and finance, but there many beautiful places.... Check out my town, Bergamo, it's a 45 minutes of train from Milan... You'll love it!!

@@EuroTrotter well, i'm looking forward to watching your videos on northern Italy then! staying in Milan, you can do many one-day trips, to Bergamo, Torino, Mantova, Verona, Parma... basically any town in northern Italy is wonderful and hides little and big traesures... and don't miss Sirmione: it's basically a Taormina-like little town at the bottom of Garda lake... enojy it ;)

The sassi part of Matera is for tourists, the 50 families who lives there owns or operates hotels, airbnb etc. and bars and restaurants. Although the city very beautiful the food is not that great there’s nothing really special or can make you wow. The people are very nice and honest and you can walk around at night feeling safe. Incredible city. I used google map all throughout and had no problem with it, gave me alternative ways to get to my destination.

Matera looked to arid and has no green space. Also, way to hot for me.

Green is in the new zone of the city, with parks too. Sassi are the old part. Matera is a special city.
