Guitar: 2020 Francisco Munoz Alba "Homenaje" SP/CSAR - www.guitarsalo...
Here's Mateusz Kowalski performing his revision of "The Flight of Kikuidataki", a piece by Marek Pasieczny inspired and based on the Japanese melody "Itsuki No Komoriuta". Mateusz recorded this video on a 2020 Francisco Muñoz Alba "Homenaje" classical guitar made with spruce top and CSA rosewood back and sides. Recorded at the Guitar Salon International showroom in Santa Monica, CA.

Thank you everyone for kind words. This is what Carlo wrote me after publishing this very piece: Carlo DOMENICONI on THE FLIGHT OF KIKUIDATAKI: "Marek Pasieczny is still very young, but already one of the most important guitarists-composers-musicians from our time. The Flight of Kikuidataki’ is beautiful! It is a piece full of sound and the guitar must be grateful to you for writing such a piece. Thank you also” Thank you to GSI for great video production and to Mateusz Kowalski for brilliant performance!

This is one of the few most beautiful and most intriguing guitar pieces I've heard in nearly 50 years of my interest in classical guitar music. Absolute marvel...🙏 Anybody that can play this composition lke Mateusz did, is a virtuoso and maestro..🙌

That is brilliant. Pure elegance with subdued virtuosity but reappeared where it should be. Not hitting the instrument whenever you can, as much as you can, and do all furious and ffforte sounds and plucks all the time, without thinking about music, but rather to shock the audience. The above is common today. What we experience here is a different story. Profoundly different. All about a modern guitar in one piece. This version is a newer, recomposed in some parts, in my opinion even harder then it was to play. What I personally like is the difference in dynamics between voices so clearly handled by Mateusz usually missed and not articulated so distinctively. We have superb composer and amazing performer, so the music is magically created. 🇵🇱

Yeah. Let's only look backwards. Never let music and art progress. Only paint pictures of flowers in vases. Never compose new music. This sort of "thinking" is anti-art.
@payambehtash7124
@payambehtash7124 6 ай бұрын
This is not music. No doubt the composer is an artist and has made a lot of great pieces but this is not music. And this post modern/progressive or whatever this noisefest is called lacks coherence and that's a big deal for me. Amazing performance though. Any tone can be brought out profoundly by him.
@blahblah49000
@blahblah49000 6 ай бұрын
I think I understand your perspective, and I sympathize in some ways, but this certainly is music. It reminds me of Debussy's Images: it's not as much about telling a story with beginning, middle, and end as it is about painting a picture of a moment in time, of exploring the sensations in an environment. It's somewhat meditative. Postmodern/progressive? There are many problems with those styles in the art world, but, was Debussy that? Look, a Pollock is definitely a noisefest, but this piece is not that; it merely allows seldom-used aspects of the guitar to substitute for other instruments that contribute to the image being portrayed. Everything in it is intentional. You may not find some of the unusual sounds pleasing, but that doesn't mean it isn't music (just as I generally don't dig heavy guitar distortion, but there's still lots of music that uses it).
@aidanguitarshamiwhatever
@aidanguitarshamiwhatever 6 ай бұрын
@@blahblah49000 Exactly. This piece fits every possible definition of music. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it somehow "not music." That would be an emotional argument with no logical basis.
@TomoFromEarth
@TomoFromEarth 6 ай бұрын
I think you need re-examine what the definition of music is my friend. This is definitely music and it is beautiful, as is the performance of it.
@sarahdbk6929
@sarahdbk6929 6 ай бұрын
I agree with you. Maybe it’s music but not a very good composition. It’s impressive if you’re not a guitarist or if you don’t know well this instrument but there isn’t a development, a form, or something very researching to be a contemporary piece.
@aidanguitarshamiwhatever
@aidanguitarshamiwhatever 6 ай бұрын
@@sarahdbk6929 well, I think it’s good and many accomplished musicians would probably disagree with you . Listening to the piece as a whole it sounds beautifully constructed in my opinion. The dynamic contrast is very effective as well I think. Nobody is an absolute authority on what is “good” or “bad” in music.
