Math 0-1: Matrix Calculus for Data Science & Machine Learning Intro

I did calc and linalg in my 1st and 2nd year of undergrad CS, and I indeed have zero recollection of either one devoting any time to matrix calc. Therefore, I'm curious as to how would a university student usually learn it if it's not something explicitly taught but nonetheless expected to be known.
