9:00 hello, your math here missed very important hidden data: Critical damage isn't just AR * crit%, because like any other attack the crits have an innate operator called motion value that multiplies the damage based on the weapon class (and sometimes the moveset if it's special), so the calculation would be AR * MV * crit% For example, daggers have an innate 1.21 + 3.98 MV for the small and big damage ticks respectively when critting a big enemy (you could add them up for an easier total damage but you would be ignoring flat defenses being applied twice). On the other hand, the greataxes have a 1.27 + 3.16 MV. Applying this to your build would result in: Misericorde. 456 * 1.4 * (1.21 and 3.98) = 773 and 2541 Executioner's greataxe. 796 * 1.15 * (1.27 and 3.16) = 1163 and 2678 In the end the executioner's greataxe still came out on top, but the multiplier on the misericorde is so obscene that maybe a different stat spread better suited for the misericorde or a different buff better than Royal Knight's Resolve exists for it to surpass the executioner's greataxe, for example something that adds flat damage, which would be more significant on the misericorde than on the executioner's.

@@neoselket562 TL;DR: - Ignoring some factors and having the same buffs on, the executioner's axe needs approximately 1.4x more base AR that the misericorde needs to do the same damage. - Making other calculations, most builds completely focused on maxing crit damage for the executioner's would yield a 1.7x more AR over builds focused on misericorde. So video dude was right, but I'm a nerd and can't trust things just because people say so.

@@paradoxer212 it's a different number that multiplies the raw AR for each different attack (usually associated to the attack animation performed, all weapons with the same animations usually have the same multiplier, therefore it is a "value for motion"), so it's what tells the game that a heavy attack should do more damage than a normal attack. That's why you never deal the "damage" that shows on your weapon even against weak enemies, there's a hidden factor.

I remember running a Great Mace + Offhand Estoc build for coop back then. Great Mace for general punishes, damage and stance damage, and the Offhand Estoc for quick attacks that could be squeezed in to prevent the stance regen, and take back the aggro. I recommend trying it, honestly! Feels more like you have a proper light attack + heavy attack combo than usual.

ive considered expanding to other games like Diablo 4 nioh etc anything that has a RPG build system. problem is the KZbin algorithm would not favor that sort of content and likely shadowban my videos and preventing them from gaining views, other than elden ring since thats just how the algorithm works unfortunately :)

While Radahn is the enemy with the most poise life at 200, there is one thing with more poise than it. The Crystallian Ashes summon has 350 poise, almost double that of Radahn's EDIT : Actually, Radahn isn't the tankiest enemy. A few enemies have poise multipliers that reduce the poise damage taken by them. Fortissax has a 60% reduction to poise damage, making their 140 poise equivalent to 350, already higher than Radahn's, though hitting the head doubles the poise damage dealt by the hit. NThe Night's Cavalry has an 80% reduction, making their 80 poise equivalent to 400, and summoning the horse instantly refills it. And the Ancient Dragon of Farum Azula has the same reduction, making their 120 poise equivalent to 600, and the same weakspot as Fortissax, meaning that even with perfect aim it has an effective 300 poise, 50% more than Radahn. Keep in mind that the poise damage reduction does not affect the poise refill timer ( which is 5 second for enemies with 65 poise, and is increased or decreased proportionally to poise, meaning 15 poise ( the lowest in the game ) refills after a bit over a second and 200 poise ( Radahn ) after around 15 seconds ) nor the 15 poise/second regeneration rate once it expires, so this makes those enemies even tankier. Also, poise damage dealt to players and player-like NPCs works exactly the same as poise damage dealt to players. Yes, even if a player with 65 poise isn't as tanky as a 65 poise enemy. That's because the character status screen is a liar. Your poise isn't 65, it's 6,5, because it multiplies by 10 the real value before showing it. There is another difference between enemy and player poise, and it is that the poise refill timer is hardlocked at 30 seconds, and the refill is instant instead of 15/second My source here is Illusory Wall's 2 videos about poise, a great watch and great channel if you like soulsborne science.

One thing that i'm interested in with this game is how would one distribute all armour / weapons / ashes among the classes so each one has the best theme appropriate toolkit and minimisings duplicate weapons and each build is unique. That way i can sell stuff that a character will never use since i know one of my other characters will use it. Not really essential but ots a nice puzzle am trying to solve with the games large item sets. Example being my confessor character using twinblades, crossbows and the assassin spells like darkness; but she also can use godskin, black knife, and crucible stuff. Its a fun way to build builds.

I may have missed it but I dont believe you discussed how some enemies have multipliers that reduce the stance damage that they take. So as a warning to anyone using posture break builds dont expect this to ever work on an ancient dragon. That is where the 1.4 breaks even with the 1.15 multiplier. Sooo.... not likely to happen in any normal run of the game. I am not doing the math to see if this is even possible, but is certainly not likely.

One small thing about the incant buffs. Using Flame, Grant Me Strength will only buff a weapon’s damage to a max of 20%, whether it has only physical damage, only fire damage, or both. 12:30-12:40 is incorrect.

For stance break builds like this one, pick up the Broadsword from a merchant at the beach near the "first step" grace. It comes with the skill "square off", which does 40 stance damage on a heavy input. For the crit weapon, pick up Miséricorde in Stormveil and infuse it with the fire affinity. Level vigor and strength first. There you go.

You should make a mathematically correct stamina build (highest stamina + stamina regen) and see how long you can prelate's charge for! Also an endurance build would just be good because as in dnd: lots of attacks very quickly is very good. Also I found out that flame grant me strength and braggarts roar both increase stamina regen

For anyone wondering, the wing of astel part is basically an exploit which might have been because of a bug. This has already been patched out by Fromsoftware and no longer works. I tried following this guide and it didnt work at all.

That was very insightful. I came to really like stancebreak builds and will propbably include several of your ideas for my next Elden Ring run. But my favorite (just from a playstyle standpoint) is the dual wielded great stars. In general great hammers are amazing for melee style stance breaking since they nearly have the same stance damage as colossal weapons but only weigh half and can therefore be dual wielded. For my next run I want to try occult infused dual wielded great stars with dragon incantations to combine rot, bleed and stance break.

The "Crit" stat you see in the menu is basically worthless and doesn't tell you how much more damage the weapon actually does on a critical attack, other than "this weapon has a higher than average critical modifier for the category this weapon is in" which obviously isn't very helpful unless you have a spreadsheet open telling you what it does specifically. Through data mining the game, the "motion values" (multiplier for determining how much damage an attack should deal determined by your Attack Rating, or AR) is as follows for the Misericorde and Executioner's Greataxe when performing a Riposte attack against a "Large" enemy (Example: Dragon): Example Weapon: First Instance of Damage + Second Instance of Damage (Both of these values have to go through Defense and Negation separately, which is why they are split up, and if the weapons are dealing Split Damage then you would also calculate each damage type separately as well, but for simplicity we are assuming that both weapons have a Physical Infusion.) Misericorde: 1.694 + 5.572 Executioner: 1.4605 + 3.634 This is a very scuffed estimate because I can't be bothered to test this at the moment, but an Executioner's Greataxe would need to have ~43% more AR than a Misericorde to deal more damage on a critical attack against most bosses in the game, this number can change depending on weapon upgrade level, total AR, and whatever Infusions the weapons are using, but generally the Executioner's Greataxe will perform better and it's importantly _not_ because of the reason stated in the video. If the video was accurate in it's assessment, then the Rapier with it's 130 "Crit" stat would outperform the Misericorde every time because it has universally higher AR, but in actuality it is universally worse for Crits.

I’d like to know the best Crit weapon that can use Prayerful Strike. Just because I want an OP healing build. Crits with the Crimson Assassin Dagger. Maybe the Godskin Swaddling cloth if it’s fast. Guy who made and maintains the sheet at 6:33 here. Just wanted to clear up something said at 4:50. The critical values shown in the menu for weapons is a multiplier to the attack power of the weapon (critical / 100 = multiplier), which is also multiplied by the critical attack's motion value (this is factored into the motion values of critical attacks on my sheet). The distinction between an attack power multiplier and a damage multiplier is important because the former is applied *before* defense formula, making those more potent than the latter, which are applied after.

Good to hear from you, I was curious because I know the math says the Misericorde *should* do more damage on the fextralife wiki but i tested it and the Mis actually does less damage than the executioners! Would your statement be the result why the Misericorde does less damage and can you confirm if it does deal less damage than the Executioners ? @@syrobe youtube keeps eating my replies, doesn't seem to like me providing my discord for some reason. Miseri will out perform Executioner's for the crits used in PvP and enemies that share those crit animations, but the larger stuff uses different crit attacks that have a smaller gap in motion value between weapon classes so Executioner's is able to gap Miseri in those cases.

I love this! Little tweak request? Your poise defense is below the recommended 51 poise for PVE and well below the recommended 81 poise for PVP. Do you have a better armor recommendation for your own defensive poise? Trying to keep a medium roll speed but I also don't mind over leveling or using the level 150 meta to make it work.

It should be easy with a 150 build. There's near infinite combinations of armor you could use to get to 51. Just put extra points into endurance. I always go to 150, sometimes a couple levels over to make a stat a round number because it bothers me to have like 19 dex or 9 faith. Lol. It doesn't improve the build any, just better for my mental health. Haha But there are a few sets and certain pieces of armor that have good poise to weight ratio. Personally I rarely get to 51 with a lot of my builds since they are hybrids and stat distribution is already stretched. So I typically go for higher defense to weight ratio to make up for reductions from talismans...most of the good ones reduce your damage taken. So it helps offset that. I'm not good enough to say armor doesn't matter, but I'm almost good enough to say poise doesn't matter a lot. As long as you can dodge successive attacks, your own stance bar will replenish. For pvp it's a different story. But pve as long as you can survive attacks and make space a few seconds you should be good. I think there is too much focus on poise in pve, I only get stance broken if I make bad mistakes, aside from certain bosses that have gotten me good a few times

So fun fact, in Dark souls 3, the best crit weapon was the Black Knight Greataxe, so I'm not surprised its yet again a great axe. And its for the exact same reason. Really high AR. Though in DS3 theres also a ring that increased crit damage, which actually made the animation longer and with an extra hit. (2-3 instead of 1-2 depending on the weapon)
