Mathematics and Art: The Clay Measurement Man (Santa, Noel, Moses) Ornament

Create a clay face in the likeness of Santa. Can also become Moses, an elf, Jack Frost, a magician, a winter warlock, a fisherman, an elf, Noel, or St. Nicholas. Can be used as a holiday ornament, pin, or magnet. Ceramic clay is used, but all types of clay or play-dough will also work.
Learning objective: Students will learn how to join two pieces of clay together while they practice measurement skills.
Suggested grade level: Third Grade to adult.
Vocabulary: sphere, circle, concave, cone, one half, one forth, clay blending, clay slab, coil, slip, hat brim, and texture.
