Awesome video!! New archer here… I personally went to get the Lyft Matthews and when I was just about to get it and I started asking about the Matthew accessories and the cost of it It came out to just shy of 3K. My second option was the Hoyt VTM 31, I walked out the door with the bow, all Hoyt accessories including a landslide and it came out to 1710$. I’m super happy with the purchase and the help that I got from my archery store ( thank you to arrowhead in Tampa for the honesty) and I truly wanted the lift but I couldn’t see myself paying an extra $1300. @bundgaard30 the beginning price point I will concede somewhat in this market. However, to enjoy all the features you really want the proprietary equipment. And they just ain't cheap. I know I'm posting twice but my pse started at $900 and that gave me wiggle room for some decent equipment to go with it. Maybe in a year or so some shop will have a lonely mathew lift 29 5 or 33 hanging and cut me a deal. Lol.
@jeffspencer748911 ай бұрын
Outside of the incremental $80 for the Mathew’s Lift compared to other flagships, incremental $40 for the Mathew’s quiver, these are all the costs that would be incurred for accessories and any other flagship bow you purchase fully new. Not a surprise to me but looks like a lot of people are shocked. Good total cost review.
@johngarnergarner672411 ай бұрын
And that's why I won't buy a Mathews Lyft. I can afford it. That's not the issue. But deep down I resent having to spend up to $3.000 for a bow set up. Frankly I just resent this. I recognize that machining, material and labor costs have gone up. But $259.00 for an arrow rest, $250.00 plus for a quiver. These prices are absurd and I feel that they are detrimental to archery as a whole. Yes, other manufacturers are pricey too but not to the degree that Mathews is. They are in a league all their own. I will say one thing to their credit. They make a great bow. I shot the 33 and it was fantastic.

I browse and window-shop at my archery shop now and again. It has come to the point to where I just can't accept the prices I see. I have had my primary compound for 15 years now and it shoots like the day I bought it. Had it restrung a few times but that's it. For the price I paid for it back then (bow, arrows, and all accessories) it equals the cost of just the sight and rest you have in this video. I'm sure there have been advances in technology since then, but I have shot some of the new flagship bows and the only appreciable difference I can really discern from mine is the weight.
@johnguffey591310 ай бұрын
I gave up shooting Mathews newer bows because of how heavy they got, from the monster on. Started shooting the older lighter bows. Heaviest bow I shoot now is my Switchback. It's nice that you opted to not use the Mathews stabilizers. While they are beautiful they are not required. Alot of people seem to think you have to use bridgelock stabilizers with the new Mathews. I bought a bare Lift 33 and transferred over my Hamskea Trinity rest, stabilizers and fast eddie XL sight (which works in the dovetail in the riser). The only additional cost for me was the quiver because I got rid of mine when I traded in my Hoyt. I did buy the limb legs because it's so convenient

As much as the Mathews stabilizers cut out vibration in the bow with how stiff they are, I just couldn’t justify spending over $700 in 2 stabilizers with the rear mount. It’s expensive enough getting into a brand new setup these days. Sometimes you just have to know where to cut your costs. I used the RedLine on my old bow, and I really liked it. Decided to go back to it for a fraction of the price.

If I were to replace it with the same brand 2024 flagship bow, the specs would be 34" ATA, 6.25" brace height, 342 fps, & 4.5 pounds. Spec-wise bows haven't changed much in the past 10+ years. I don't have any intention of replacing my $899 flagship bow in my lifetime. It has a rock solid back wall, stays in tune extremely well, is quiet at the shoot, and is very consistent/accurate. Couldn't see a multi pin sight so paid $350 for a single pin sight, needed arrows which were 200 per dozen, (now pay half at Bass Pro per dozen, same arrow) needed a case and bought that on amazon for $175 standard QAD rest, cheap front weight bar and I spent over 2000k when it was all said and done. Needed a release, i am on my third one because you never pick the right one if you've never done this before. Bought a cheap deer practice target, then bought another box target.... this is like golf or fishing its keep adding and changing etc. The set up you got seems standard to me, the question is how long will you have this set up. Many people chase the what's new. Levi Morgan just bought a 15 year old bow, and went out and killed a deer. There will always be newer and better, get a good set up and shoot it for a few years. I dont' have the best set up in the world, but I have the set up that I can afford and it will kill any deer if the shot is on target and that by the way is up to the shooter.

Idk why everyone is dick ridding Matthews so hard with these price points when there soooo many other great bows on the market. I just won a 3D tournament against a bunch of guys with similar builds, I’d doesn’t make you a better shooter putting $2500-$3000 into a bow. Buy a Darton save some money
@i_hunt_because_im_hungry9 ай бұрын
I don’t think it’s necessarily “dick riding” Mathew’s. It’s what people like to shoot. Some people are willing to spend the money on something they want, such as myself. People with traditional bows can still outshoot people with compound bows. Again, it’s all about whatever you like and want as an individual. It’s also about how much time and practice you put into shooting. Never about the bow. Good job on the win though. Keep after it!
@Texaslivinoutdoors9 ай бұрын
@@i_hunt_because_im_hungry every archery KZbin channel is talking about or shooting Matthew, it’s dick ridding. Every time I go to a tournament 80% of the guys there have a bow you see on all these channels and it gets old. If you want your channel to stand out do something new not another Matthews build.

@@Texaslivinoutdoors you sound angry. Don’t be angry about what others choose to shoot or what they want to buy. Just because you choose to go cheaper and with a name brand that isn’t Mathew’s doesn’t mean you’re better than everyone else out there. And just so you’re on the same page as myself, this wasn’t a bow build. Simply the complete setup with the prices to show others who actually care about getting into this bow and let them know why the round about price is to get into this. Next time you have a concern about what others are building or buying or shooting, take a sip of your Bud Light and move on. Enjoy your day big guy. Not here to please them all. Good luck with your future shoots.

whats crazy is I just had one come into my shop because he couldnt tune it....Mathews installed mis-matching shim sets in the bow...from the factory.... paying almost 2k for a bow that isnt even assembled properly and chrono's bout 80fps slower than the factory IBO rating. Ive got 8 year old Elite's that perform better. people need to stop buying based on a brand name, mathews preys on the gullible
@i_hunt_because_im_hungry8 ай бұрын
I haven’t seen that yet with anyone I’ve talked to or seen in that shop. Again, with them being mass produced like they are, there will always be some that are messed up at some point. I wouldn’t say gullible, but they do know they can get people to pay a lot of money for their bows. All about that name brand. Some people are just happier shooting a name than a bow. I get what you’re saying though. Never want to pay that much money for something and have something go wrong or be wrong with the product.

Whats sad is people like urself will just keep driving the price up. The amount of people going into shops and putting a down payment on a bow they havent even HELD is insane. I guess this is what happens when you spend x10 the amount on advertising. Props to mathews for creating a company like this, but holy crap... if i spend 2500 bucks on a bow its going to automatically "feel better".

If you're thinking about getting into archery hunting take some free advice: Don't watch KZbin "influencers" and think you have to mimic them concerning gear. Many are sponsored in some way so they get some gear for free. You're better off learning land navigation skills, scouting an area to hunt, learning how to be extremely quiet, learning how to read the wind, and practice shooting a lot. I'm not saying this guy is sponsored and I'm not saying it's wrong to spend that kind of money. I'm just saying you don't have to and there's way more to archery hunting than a Mathews Lift and all the Sitka clothes.
@i_hunt_because_im_hungry11 ай бұрын
You are 100% correct if you’re getting into archery or hunting in general. This video wasn’t made for any other purpose than to show people how much it costs to get into the Lift with a brand new setup with mid level accessories on it. And you’re also correct. I’m not sponsored by anyone for anything. I’m just a normal guy who likes to put out info about things that I myself wish someone had made a video about. You’re not wrong at all though with what you said on here. People get wrapped up in upgrading their bows every single year because that’s what all the big names do, even though they get them for free. People think they have to keep up. But in my opinion, if you want to spend your money on something like this then don’t let anyone stop you if that’s what you really want. Just do some research before you pull the trigger. Good comment though man 🇺🇸

You don’t have to agree with what people decide to spend their hard earned money on. I’m sure there are things that you’ve spent your money on that just didn’t make sense in the past to someone else. Good thing this isn’t your choice because I truly live shooting this bow. Have fun with your $250 bow. I hope it treats you well and lasts forever. Good luck hunting out there. @@philgiuffre6390 I think most people just think Mathews is overpriced. I just think it can vary from dealer to dealer, but they’re not completely wrong when it comes to accessories either.
@philgiuffre639011 ай бұрын
@@i_hunt_because_im_hungry the thing is, it’s priced higher because, at least this year, it’s a superior product. In the past you could make the argument which was best, but Mathews made a mark with weight, speed and sound. With accessories, you still have all the same options plus bridge lock. Thats what makes it so great. In that bow, you pay more for the superior product. I’m not sticking up for Mathews by any means, just logic that a superior product would come at a premium price.
