Everyone who got to grow up in the 90s should feel privileged. It was such a special and unique time for the world, between music ; the advancement of technology , and the dawn of the internet. We get to remember what it was like without phones and internet as well as experience all the benefits that came with it. Kids today will never understand. The world and the music will never be the same.

90s was the shit . The balance of the music on a mainstream level will never be duplicated. From conscious to party to gangster , etc artist all being played on radio / mixtapes . The different styles , you had to be original as possible when I was a teen in 90s . Can’t forget the R&b to ballads to neo soul . Great era for music .

Thats one thing that was dope about the 90s, i still to this day play wkcr stretch n bobitto tapes to kids and theyre in awe, asking who was that, rewind that part. And all there styles were unique, everyone sounded different even the beatmakers had there own sounds, nowadays they all produce the same sound. And im from New york, we play mobb deep and kids from other states look at us like were crazy and hardcore and shit, they dont realize what was poppin in NY back in the day Nas, Biggie, Mobb deep. From like 93 to 97 was nuts. The same way the south has there rappers and culture, and DC has there go go. New york has Nas, Big L, Mobb deep, production wise pete rock, Large professor, premier ,beat minerz ,ez elpee, thats New yorks classic sound and culture. MF doom theres tons of cats, tons. Scaramanga(INSANE unique style), Godfather don, OC, Grand puba, Slick rick, Omniscence (SUPER UNDERRATED), Rodan, Mekolicious (Another underrated cat), Mic geronimo, Large professor, Mathematik, Gangstarr (GURU RIP), Ed OG, Grap Luva, Capone n noreage (CNN Shoutout queens), G-dep, Percee P, Grafh(Crazy unique style), Royal flush. And many many more. These are all cats who can spit amazing

The 90s was special, less depressed, hanging outside, no cameras all in ur face, even chilling on the block was different, even the drug dealers where I grew up stopped selling when kids were going and coming from school, use to get the ice cream truck for the whole block, give bikes to whoever got a good report card, block parties were epic, the music, the style, dances, what a time man, what I don’t allow my kid to do in 2022, kids were allowed to do back then, knew all your neighbors, NYC is definitely not the same !
