You see one who looks indigenous he has more native roots. It's all in their genetic makeup. Some have a combination of all 3. I don't think people know DMX was a legend legend in Yonkers years and years before he blew up. He was battling other rappers at house parties, clubs, in prison etc...was one of the first ever guest on Stretch and Bobbitto with Percee Pee back in 1991. Unsigned Hype back in 91 Source Magazine. X had like a 15 year run in the underground NY circuit before "It's Dark" even dropped. He was well respected.

I lived in YO for a short period in 2011 when I was 18. I lived on a 2nd floor apartment of a busy road (palisade) right around the corner from Schlobohm projects. I used to have to get through a gate to get upstairs and everyday there would be about 10 to 30 dudes standing in the front but they never attempted to "press" me. I boxed out there at the ymca and met alot of solid individuals. I remember not having a AC in the summer and it was so hot I used to go walk by the hudson river next to the metro north 😅. I mean those were some rough days but it made me more solid 💪. It felt like dudes out there ran the blocks. Another place I can really compare it to as far as size and similarities is Newburgh. NY got alot of small cities/towns under the radar that's solid. I grew up in the Binghamton area. Not as tough but definitely had its moments.

Gave me the mindset to walk through anywhere with my head up chest out solo. Man didnt know what to make of me. All they new about man who look like me was Apu from the Simpsons and the man in the corner store. Styles is nice tho! I like the LOX! His story about coming up in the hood brings back memories of me growing up in the projects. People can talk about how bad the hood or projects was or is. It was home and a place where you got your nickname from, where you got your toughness from, where you got to know everybody and everybody got to know you. Yeah! It was rough growing up but it was fun too and I miss it. Styles story brought back some good memories! I remember playing football in the snow at night time, riding my bike around everywhere and ringing doorbells and taking off running, climbing on the roof, playing basketball till it got late at night. It was fun! We had fun! It was the 80's though! You can't do that now! LOL!

Facts💯I grew up in Htown in the 90’s I really miss those days. My son & nephews asked me what did we do for fun since we didn’t have internet lol I told him we were outside all fkn day, playing every sport, even skating. We walked or rode bikes everywhere wit no food or drinks, jus drunk water from the hose lol. They didn’t believe me when i said we played nigga knock, climbed to the roof & even climbed trees🌲 for fun😂😂😂

@@barrekelly Yeah! Those was the good ol days! Yeah! I remember drinking from the water hose too! LOL! We definitely was out there skating, skateboards and scooters. There were times where we was trying to breakdance and be like ninjas. Can't forget about we was out there trying to flip too. I almost broke me neck. LOL! That was the end of the back flip for me! LOL! But I could do a mean front flip but couldn't land it like a cat tho. 😂😂😂 Some things should never change. I really miss seeing some of the people tho.
