I remember I did 3 years off a 2.5-5 yr bid. I came home with the same mentality I had before I went in… so I was on the block one day and I had some work in my pocket. Cops rushed the block and mind u, I literally only been home for a week. So they got all of us hemmed up and I had all this work in my pocket but for some reason the cops just couldn’t find it. I thought about me being in prison, praying my prayers (I’m Muslim) and it hit me, that was Allah answering my prayer. My prayer was to remember Allah outside of prison rather than inside and Allah reminded me of that prayer that day. After the cops left, I walked off, took the work out my pocket and threw it all in the trash and went and got a job. Right then, I knew it was over

As gruesome and saddening as these stories are, I can listen to them all day long. Not only because of how the people who tell them talk, and basically make you see a movie in your mind, but just because of how real it is. Like...its kind of like a scared straight program.
