In the 90s I could tell music had a lot of potential through influential value. Back then I figured it was going to save black Americans from oppression across the board, economically, politically, spiritually, etc.in some strange metaphorical esoteric way.Now rap is part of the dog pile to suppress the potential of black people abroad. Now in modern or current time the most effective white supremacists is a black American that so called keeps it real,my fault I mean keep it a buck,my bad I meant keep it a bean.

Two things, you control what influences you, however some and possibly the majority just dont grasp that because they don't critically think if they are not told to and some people are born incapable for various reasons. Two, why are people blaming black rappers...screw that all rappers for enhancing white supremacy today. Last time I checked there are plenty of rappers out in 2021 making uplifting music. Guess what their music dont get played to the masses because it is out of the musician's control. The only people to blame for this are the typically white people that make the decisions on who gets the major deal and gets to decide who goes mainstream

Music has always gone after our kids. By kids, I mean our 20yr olds too. Think about it, 90% of 40yr olds are not listening to JayZ’s or 50’s early music and feeling influenced to participate. It’s just a song at that point. Our kids however, are wrapped up in the emotions of how fast life is coming at them…. With that said, in most situations, they are influenced by the drum more than any of us because they’re emotionally connected to the music they chose because it’s the only thing that seems to relate to their individual struggles at the time. The drum is African, we brought it here & it’s use was to enhance emotion to invoke a greater execution of action during or after listening to it. Particularly, getting ready for WAR. We’re misusing a powerful weapon. Mu-“SICK” as in something’s infected you. Nobody’s thinking about our kids except these music execs… Now Nas-X is coming for our kids.

Ice-t Was the first gangsta album. Rhyme Pays came out in 1987 and went platinum with songs like...Squeeze the trigger Rampage on stage, my crews in a rage Searched my posse, found the Uzi but missed the 12 gauge lol... or the track six in the morning police at my door Fresh Adidas squeak across the bathroom floor Out my back window I make my escape Didn't even get a chance to grab my old school tape lol ... NWA came out a year after released their debut studio album, Straight Outta Compton, in 1988... And ice-t was worldwide at that time... I say this because I bought that first cassette tape in Toronto Canada where I live and they didn't want to sell it to me because I was too young lol but with a little bit of arguing they sold it to me anyways lol 😂

This is really good conversation. And I love that we are finally acknowledging how music actually does influence us. But, after this conversation and acknowledgement…are we still going to present some of these artists that we fell in love with, that produced this kind of music, as heroes and role models? Are we going to openly stand and speak out against artists that make this kind of music today?

I have matured over the years. If you were to tell me 15-20 years ago that gangsta rap/ nefarious lyrical content influenced the minds of the listener to go out and conduct themselves in said fashion, I would have dismissed you. But after the influx of rappers getting gunned down as of recently has made me see that negative lyrical content in our music has negative implications on our society. They go hand in hand, it's not rocket science.

These problems would exist without the content of the music. Drug dealing, gang violence, and broke. Households existed before rap. Anyone who thinks these problems are less of an impact than the content of rap is a fool. Trash music is easier and faster to produce than a conscious record because it takes more thought. This makes the more violent and dumb down stuff much more financially viable. It's a lot of begging the question fam.

Music is a stiumi. Remember.... Some music can really control how people think by social programming. But that is where the person who is listening has to ask themselves... Is this even real? And look back. (We have a mind for our own...use it!) But the problem is... When children obtain the information and cannot tell the difference. That is when it is a problem. But again...
