Exactly. and when you're young and not understanding what's going on and why people would even do something like that it can be traumatic. It's even triggering for him now if you watch how he responds to the questions. Even after an epic show like Martin has rebranded and allowed him to reinvent himself and create history, even to the point where it seems like Martin's last name was after his own last name as a salute to Carl's contribution to television history. It seems like he still hurts from that Bill incident.
@cloudclub53268 ай бұрын
man i aint buying it...yes the stylist threw him under the bus....but as he said in this interview, HE NEVER SPOKE UP FOR HIMSELF. he let Cosby scream on him about an issue that he never caused and then let Cosby dismiss him. as a 15 year old in the 80s, how the hell dont you have the gumption to stand up for yourself??? and yes he also messed up by not having an agent or manager as well. but as he said, if im 15 and this is the best thing that has happened in my life, why would I let this moment slip away from me without standing up and speaking my piece? especially when Im not the 1 in the wrong
@esseen1008 ай бұрын
@@cloudclub5326 context is everything. I thought as you thought but from my standpoint as a 15 year old in the 80s. And I was nowhere in a position like his. Where you have your whole self-esteem and family well-being, as well as the magnitude of the show and possibly your future on your shoulders and at risk of crumbling should you respond to this man the wrong way.🤔
@CoffeeCrazy8 ай бұрын
@@cloudclub5326you must have been a mess at 15. 😂 jk. he was a CHILD and was probably reared to respect elders as most of us were during that time. Now given everything that we have heard about Mr. Puddin pop it should not surprise us that he was a bully. I agree with Carl, it had to be something more. Maybe the stylist told Cosby that he put chemicals in his hair and the requirement was for everyone to have natural hair. I have to say that Cockroach was growing in his character and maybe he wanted to knock him down because Malcom was endearing to Bill and did not want to over shadow Theo. I’m glad he moved on to another successful show and did not allow the trauma from his youth to kill his dreams.

He was only in a total of 12 episodes. The Cosby Show used to have anywhere from 24 to 26 episode seasons back in the 80s. Malcolm had plenty of time to shine without him. Plus, they didn't always use all of the kids in episodes. A kid or two would be absent from entire episodes sometimes.

I think people are making it out to be something sinister. Somebody on staff messed up. Instead of that person stepping up and saying my bead, they played the background and let the kid take the blame. The kid, not really knowing how to navigate the situation, just took it on the chin. Should the adult have stepped up and took the blame? Yeah But that's not real life. Most people aren't stepping up to take the heat.

I honestly think since the show was growing, expanding as were the characters. And Theos character like the others changed and evolved. The ONLY kid to have there childhood friend stay 90% of time with the character was Rudy n Kenny. And that was because she was the youngest so they kind of had to pick who she was going to hang with as she grew up. The others were all preteen to teenagers or in Saundra character an adult. So there really wasn't a need to keep their friends around like that
