I absolutely understand what CarL is Saying.. They wanted him off the Show and used his hair Situation as an excuse to say he broke Rules! This happened to me in the Regular workforce and I felt that same exact way like it was out of my control and whatever he says wouldn’t change anything!!

Exactly. and when you're young and not understanding what's going on and why people would even do something like that it can be traumatic. It's even triggering for him now if you watch how he responds to the questions. Even after an epic show like Martin has rebranded and allowed him to reinvent himself and create history, even to the point where it seems like Martin's last name was after his own last name as a salute to Carl's contribution to television history. It seems like he still hurts from that Bill incident.

man i aint buying it...yes the stylist threw him under the bus....but as he said in this interview, HE NEVER SPOKE UP FOR HIMSELF. he let Cosby scream on him about an issue that he never caused and then let Cosby dismiss him. as a 15 year old in the 80s, how the hell dont you have the gumption to stand up for yourself??? and yes he also messed up by not having an agent or manager as well. but as he said, if im 15 and this is the best thing that has happened in my life, why would I let this moment slip away from me without standing up and speaking my piece? especially when Im not the 1 in the wrong
@esseen100

@@cloudclub5326 context is everything. I thought as you thought but from my standpoint as a 15 year old in the 80s. And I was nowhere in a position like his. Where you have your whole self-esteem and family well-being, as well as the magnitude of the show and possibly your future on your shoulders and at risk of crumbling should you respond to this man the wrong way.🤔

@@cloudclub5326you must have been a mess at 15. 😂 jk. he was a CHILD and was probably reared to respect elders as most of us were during that time. Now given everything that we have heard about Mr. Puddin pop it should not surprise us that he was a bully. I agree with Carl, it had to be something more. Maybe the stylist told Cosby that he put chemicals in his hair and the requirement was for everyone to have natural hair. I have to say that Cockroach was growing in his character and maybe he wanted to knock him down because Malcom was endearing to Bill and did not want to over shadow Theo. I’m glad he moved on to another successful show and did not allow the trauma from his youth to kill his dreams.

These dudes are too old to be clowning like this, they sound dense af! Carl is a few years older than me. I think part of the reason was Cockroach's popularity growing as Theo's friend. He was involved in more and more episodes, and he shined in each one. Im sure Malcolm felt a way about it.

He was only in a total of 12 episodes. The Cosby Show used to have anywhere from 24 to 26 episode seasons back in the 80s. Malcolm had plenty of time to shine without him. Plus, they didn't always use all of the kids in episodes. A kid or two would be absent from entire episodes sometimes.

I think people are making it out to be something sinister. Somebody on staff messed up. Instead of that person stepping up and saying my bead, they played the background and let the kid take the blame. The kid, not really knowing how to navigate the situation, just took it on the chin. Should the adult have stepped up and took the blame? Yeah But that's not real life. Most people aren't stepping up to take the heat.

Allen Payne told the story that Carl got fired because of the hair story....This was probably 1986...Almost 40 yrs ago, and they said Bill ran a tight ship on the show...Carl was 15 he probably didn't know any reason and someone took the time to make it a big deal and Bill probably made it a even bigger deal.

I honestly think since the show was growing, expanding as were the characters. And Theos character like the others changed and evolved. The ONLY kid to have there childhood friend stay 90% of time with the character was Rudy n Kenny. And that was because she was the youngest so they kind of had to pick who she was going to hang with as she grew up. The others were all preteen to teenagers or in Saundra character an adult. So there really wasn't a need to keep their friends around like that

He also said some personal stuff happen between him and Martin when doing Martin. He's starting to look like the "common denominator" in a lot of this stuff man

If anything, I'm really surprised by Carl's vocabulary, speech, and delivery flow bc he's really articulate and that's not something often seen with child actors.

Love Roach and Cole characters. Did his thing with those two. But have say his story isn’t quite adding up on why he left Cosby Show. Seems like something petty happened and he ain’t speaking on that part
