Why can't you be my teacher!?! You explain soooooo well!!!
@nertl96319 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! You made it a lot simpler than what my teacher was trying to explain... You probably just got me a letter grade higher on my test tomorrow! :D

Thank you. I needed a refresher on this, as I have a test tomorrow and I couldn't visualize what my book was explaining. THANKS A LOT MAN. Great and simple way of explaining.

For the one at 5:30, can you divide by -1 instead of multiply?
@Mathispower4u11 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can.

wow...seeing my question on here 2 years later and finding it silly that I didn't get that back then.

The final graph and equation don't seem to match up. It is still symmetrical across the x-axis, but the plotted curve is incorrect for the stated equation.

So when do we have to multiply by −1??
@adamshafer4683 жыл бұрын
don’t know if anyone is gonna reply back but i could use the help if the x when trying to figure out the y axis if it doesn’t have the power by two thing than it doesn’t change right it stays negative? and would that be the same thing for y when finding the x axis

In what cases will there be no symmetry? When there is no x or y?
@Bayonettamachinekill7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for explaining this. Your so awesome

How would it work if it was a function with an absolute value for example X=|y|

But then u will never have X-axis symmetry cause y will always be negative!
@Mathispower4u10 жыл бұрын
You noticed an important property! A function will never have x-axis symmetry because then it would fail the vertical line test. However, the graph of an equation like x = y^2, would have x-axis symmetry, but x = y^2 isn't a function.

f(x)= f(-x) = X-axis
@jamessousa53017 жыл бұрын
Ibsa Chawaka That's not what is stated. It states to replace y with -y. using function notation it would be f(x) = - f(x).
@jamessousa53017 жыл бұрын
Ibsa Chawaka What you stated would be for y axis symmetry.
