For the last constraint in the last problem, should it not be 4(x1 +x2 +x3)

Problem mentioned in 6:00 mentions "the weight in each hold must be propotionL to the capacity in tonnes". I think we have not taken this constraint into account while forming LPP.

It's considered, Constraints shown in third column address to weight.

Mam problem at 12:45, can't the hours be broken down into 1 hr period instead of 2 hr period? The problem states that part-time workers can start anytime between 9 to 1pm. It doesn't mention that workers must start at 2 hr period. So starting time could be considered continuous instead of discrete values of 9am, 11am, or 1pm?

But the shift is already divided..... Workers can't start in between shifts... That would be chaotic and need more unnecessary management..... Atleast I think so

@@blue67839 I meann... they are clearly leaving for lunch at 12.. and some are joining after lunch which is 2. I feel the problem would be better contained if the equations were on an hourly basis rather than 2hrs..

if part time hours are limited to 50%, then 4(x1+x2+x3)

I liked the approach you have taken, considering the 1 hour of lunch, the constraint should be; 4(x1+x2+x3)

Sometimes we are considering decision variable as unit of volume, sometimes unit of weight,... what exactly are we taking as a decision variable. I rewatched the decision variable video but can't understand. Can you please help me with my doubt ??
@MathPod

If it is about a specific problem, let me know the timeline in video. In general, decision variables are decided as per problem, there are no fixed strategies. We look for answering "WHAT is being made-manufactured/cost/profit associated with .." and accordingly allocate this as variable. The available capacities/Demand help us to create constraints.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I have a doubt regarding Total hours required each day which is used in the last constraint. Total hours required each day= (32+40+35+33) or 2*(32+40+35+33) which one of the above is correct?
@MathPod
@MathPod 4 жыл бұрын
Total hours required each day is (32+40+35+33) and then take 50% of total hours as asked in problem.

@@MathPod Lets say if we consider 9am-11am slot, then total workers needed are 32 and they work for 2hours...Hence total working hours will be 2*32=64. Is it correct or am I missing something?
@MathPod
@MathPod 4 жыл бұрын
@@kunalkrantidas6442 total working hours are 32 as given in problem but not 64. We cannot assume that working hours are for one hour.

@@MathPod But the question says 32 workers are needed for time period 9-11, so 32 workers will do 64 hours of work in 2hrs time.

mam , how can amount and weight have the same unit ( or dimension ) ,you represented both using same variable .
