Genichiro is the mid-term exam. You are tested on literally everything you've learned in the game so far. Mikiri Counter the thrusts. Jump over the sweeps and stomp. Dont forget about your prosthetic tools. The Shuriken is extremely versatile. Takes out most animals in one hit. Does extra posture damage to midair enemies, and it can be used to inturrupt enemy posture recovery. If you need to step away from a boss to heal and their posture starts recovering, just toss a shuriken. Theyll probably block it but itll at least stop the recovery. The Flame Barrel is amazing because the burn status effect doesnt just do damage over time like poison. It also prevents ALL posture recovery until the burn ends. So you can simultaneously bring down a bosses health, therefore slowing their posture recovery, but also temporarily remove the need to stay constantly aggressive since the enemy cant recover at all briefly. Plus, the oil item can be thrown at enemies to make them more susceptible to burn. If an enemy has oil on it, a single use of the Flame Barrel will burn it.

The way I've always rationalized that seemingly ridiculous shortcut between Dilapidated Temple and Ashina Castle is that it's two of those rotating doors connected by a LONG path, and we're only seeing the entrance and the exit. And perhaps it was built for Emma (and/or Dogen) to allow for easy and covert traversal between the two locations. It certainly isn't necessary for practical gameplay reasons since there's fast travel, so it must be there for a story-related reason.

had to make a second comment 🤣, watching you play this really helped re-live the game's genius; every fight leading up to this genichiro's skill check (basically the door to the rest of the game) that introduces a new mechanic in its second phase, its the first time as a player they put emphasis on him losing zero posture at higher health, so it becomes a dance where you look for windows to punish them, then this seamless tug of war where you choose when to harass his health or batter his posture it adds so much more agency to the gameplay. The feeling of landing that first lightning reversal is indescribable you can beat him by just surviving it; I've seen people just resurrect tank it or outright avoid it but the option to risk it all to land that reversal and obliterate his posture and a chunk of health transcends everything you experience up till now

Something that helped me with the combat was not moving and just letting go over the joystick unless I needed to go towards the enemy. Not moving makes it much easier to jump over swipe attacks, and makes Miri counters much easier to perform, as pressing a direction causes you to dodge. Not having to let go of the direction of the stick is one less input your brain has to process which makes it easier to react. It's also important to stay calm and not panic. The game gives you more than enough time to identify a jump or thrust attack, and successfully countering or jumping on top of the enemy will help to deal way more posture damage than dodging, making fights much easier. The less dodges the better

It is great watching your first experience. I am baffled on how quick you get the still of this game. It took me up untill genichire to finally understand the block parry dance like game play of bosses. Genichiro iirc took me for about 50 tries. Looking forward to upcoming episodes. Suggestions: - You didn't perform any lightning reversal, it is required for some bosses in future. How it works? Simply, if you see a lightning enhanced attack, jump and hold L1. If attack hits you, "before" hitting ground, press R1 for devastating counter/stun. If it doesn't hit you, you safely continue. If you are on the gorund, it short circuits, that is the gist of it. - Do check the starter zone, even follow up to the tunnel/cave where you first started, there might be something good there. - Don't rush for the headless, you can do them if you try but it is highly recommended that you wait a bit more. - Check other skill books, there are some great passives. - Remember to equip the "upgraded" shinobi tool. As an example, your first upgrade lets you charge your shuriken for more dps, when you unlock it, in the equipment slot, there will be the second upgraded one, if you don't equip that, you won't be able to use the upgraded skill. Edit: This one was redundant, removed - In the place just before genichiro, some walls can be broken(tatami walls I guess) there might be something hidden there. - In the same place(before genichiro), you can go to lower places, there might be something good there too.

While jumping, don’t jump in a direction tor effect lightning. When you see him use lightning jump while standing still in one spot so that the move hits you, and then before you land press r1.

The thing that I love about Sekiro is when it comes to super boss, they gave a huge space to strategize not like others soulslike game.

Tip: NEVER AIM MIKIRI! Just press the Mikiri button. The way Mikiri works is that you connect and dodge into an enemy Thrust which then does the 'step on the blade' thing. Pressing the dodge button without aiming it with your joystick/mouse will automatically dodge you forward into the locked-on enemy, perfect for Mikiri Countering.

Its easier for me if you aim it forward

@@albinauriclord5676 he's saying just don't hold a directional input, just press dodge and he'll mikiri. Holding forward is a bit weird sometimes

@@albinauriclord5676 I used to do this as well but then I forced myself to unlearn the dodging forward habit and it immensely improved my timing.

Wooooow this is a great showcase of your gaming skills. Ashina elite gave me a lot of trouble and you found the gimmick so fast AND on first try? I think THIS is your game mati I'm seriously so impressed 😮

I think for Sekiro (and really all of Soulbornes), people watch the playthrough for reactions of how hard the game is. It is a rage game in general. You took time to train and are actually very good, which I think took some people by surprise, so some try to rationalize it that you may have played it before. Even if you have played it before, I have never seen parry like that by anybody. Anyway, very entertaining playthroughs. Obviously, Demon Soul remake is after this, and I cannot wait.

Do not worry about spamming the deflect button my dude, just play the way that works best for you. Love your content!

Aaaand its a banger! Loved the mini edit of you showing the phone, with that big victory grin. =D This game is sooo much fun. I went back playing it, but for now you are some bosses ahead of me. Keep it up

You are actually really good in this game. A lot of people take a longer time with Genichiro and the Blazing Bull. Some never even get past Jinsuke Saze (the mini boss before Genichiro). It's good that you immediately understood that dodging is not the way to go in this game. Good job!
@MrTrueCaller619 Жыл бұрын
About Jinzuke, While deflecting destroys him, i found dodging his special attack a lot easier since he's kinda early in the game & i didn't fully master deflecting yet, just wanted to point that dashing/dodging is very useful in certain moments & a l lot of people underestimate it.

That's so funny, the English and Japanese voice settings have different noises for the Swooping Kitelord at 31:18. If you remember, you should head back with the English dub and hear him. It's glorious.

Wonderful job man!! This is really the first big wall that the game put in front of you! It’s the moment where the game say to you "if you don’t play like you this, forget it" I spent 2 long practice days before I could beat him, you did it soooo smoothly! From now, the game will take some interesting turns, and I can’t wait to see the rest of it 😃

another great banger, also you are so much better at the game than I expected. I'm glad you like it, also as a nice touch you can check back on the footage of your first encounter with him vs now, and look at the cinematic and the way Sekiro draws his blade. After loosing everything then, vs gaining courage the fight for kuro again. It's a nice simple touch.

Just discovered your channel not too long ago, loving the vids. Sekiro is by far my fav Fromsoft game. Also, idk if you've been told this yet, but try and buy spirit emblems in bulk early on if possible (Idk how up to date your vids are compared to where you actually are) since they become more expensive as the game progresses and don't be afraid to use your prosthetic tools more often, firecrackers are OP! You an do some crazy stuff late game and the combos are insane

A couple things, in addition to congratulate you on how you handled those fights! You're good at this dude! First off, for the lightning strike, you can actually only press R1 once in the air and it has hit you: as long as you do it before hitting the ground again, you'll send it where it came from. Only downside of not pressing L1 is that you'll lose like a centimeter of health, doesn't matter honestly. Second, maybe you know that already but since you haven't used it on Genichiro, quick reminder that once you have jumped over a sweep attack with the red kanji, you can press the jump button again once you're over the enemy's head, and you'll just step on their face; very satisfying and a lot of posture damage. So that means you need to get the reflex of jumping *towards* the enemy when that happens, which can be a little counter-intuitive ^^ Awesome run man, you're killing this!! (though I don't want to jinx it!!^^) ALSO have a second look at what that new merchant at the temple has to sell ;) Cheers
