This video briefly demonstrates how to obtain unknown values from curves or given range of data points using the method of extrapolation in MATLAB. The term extrapolation basically refers to the method used to compute a new data point outside the range of discrete set of known data points. In this example, the video at first uses interpolation method to obtain a graph & subsequently explains the obtained curve over the graph. Doing so, the video shows that a programmer can only get points within the range by interpolation method; however, results in error for any point outside the range.
Next, the video shows how to obtain a data point outside the range using the command ‘extrap’ over the graphical wireframe and subsequently explains the curve nature in details. Moving on, the video briefly talks about where to use linear and spline interpolation and extrapolation with reference to the engineering measure of linearity and/or polynomial nature of the condition deal with. Later, the video refers to watch next video for a workout program on interpolation by MATLAB coding.
