@@bmkmymaggots, “for counterpoint” is not wrong. Differences in the instruments help to accentuate and distinguish individual contrapuntal lines.

If you were asking about the two models, one is a euphonium, not a tuba. At least, not a bass tuba, it is sometimes referred to as a tenor tuba. If you are asking about why there are two tuba players, as stated in the other reply, for counterpoint (and orchestration)
