@@Emiturbina I mean in Security Breach you literally see a recreation of the Afton family in the post-it note room, and multiple characters in that game are stand-ins or parallels to members of the Afton family so, y'know, they're clearly important to Security Breach's lore, not so much for Ruin but Ruin doesn't really connect to Security Breach, it goes more in it's own direction.

Like seriously, go back and play HW now that you understand who The Mimic is and it'll be clear that was always the intended direction. I think people are forgetting that up to UCN was it's own "chapter" and after it is a new one. A chapter which is in the same universe as the first 7 games, but doesn't rely on them for storytelling. HW, SD, SB, and now Ruin are all telling a new story which has nothing to do with the Afton's

I love how the context transforms the lyrics. "I've been trying for so long to sing you the right song, to show you something different every day, so you hear what I have to say, like puzzle pieces" -MatPat grinding out Game Theory videos and coming up with different ideas and theories to keep people entertained and thinking. "Like puzzle pieces" fits snug into this idea. "Made your mistakes and make me hurt" -Scott Cawthon either possibly or outright changing the story and retconning certain things (like the bite of 87). Also MatPat making crazy theories that don't match with the true story. "You've been mourning your loss here, and that's grinding my gears, how can a human lose their self-control?" -Definitely about MatPat making a wrong or just bad theory, but that doesn't stop him from making endless FNAF theories, thus losing his self-control "If you want it done right, you should just do it yourself" -MatPat going out of his way to make a theory about EVERY piece of FNAF media "You oversaturate your world with nothing but machines" -I feel like sir Garfield Gamingson intentionally made MatPat sing this line to connect it to Scott Cawthon's endless creation of Five Nights at Freddy's content, BUT this could be spinned around against MatPat, stating that he can't stop fixating on making theories on FNAF. "We have a lot more in common than you would be calm with" -Well aside from being humans, they both "milk" the Five Nights at Freddy's series for all it's worth, and also telling a crazy story through the franchise. I almost feel like this was purposefully made because it sounds like these two are really at each other's throats, the music is intense and the lyrics are rather... unfriendly I guess.

I've seen a few people break down how the lyrics have new meaning if you take this as a conversation between matpat and scott cawthon but i haven't seen them talk about everything so here's what i've thought of (this is just for fun so don't take it too seriously) "I've been trying for so long to sing you the right song, to show you something different every day, So you hear what I have to say, Like puzzle pieces" is clearly in reference to the endless fnaf theories that will never solve the broken puzzle of fnaf "And now we're here at a standstill I wonder if you feel the kind of pain that rips your insides out... That's something I know all about Shocking, ain't it?" The pain could be taken as fan pressure or the pain of trying to constantly 1 up each other (matpat trying to solve scott's lore while scott tries to make new lore/make it harder to solve) "I can't fix you..." could simply refer to how matpat can't fix fnaf's story through theories and scott can't let matpat do that either (which would possibly save him what sanity he has left) "Mistakes I've been making I'm running out of patience to pretend" could be in reference to whole "there are no holes in the plot only holes in your understanding" thing that scott said. he's running out of patience to pretend the lore still makes sense. "This isn't how I'll let it end..." could be in reference to how Scott will never be happy with how fnaf ends and thus it never will. "You've been mourning your loss here And that's grinding my gears" could be in reference to how mat "mourns" how hard it is to fix fnaf which bothers scott "How can a human lose his self control? There's nothing left to make you whole..." could reference scott looking down on mat for losing himself trying to solve stuff i dunno "I'm done explaining..." could be scott just giving up on trying to make things solvable "This is what happens when you... leave it to somebody else..." could be in reference to how scott claimed to leave fnaf while still sticking around heavily to make sure everything goes the way he wants it to "If you want it done right... you should just do it yourself..." could be in reference to mat trying to fix the lore himself instead of letting scott tell it (which he isn't doing a good job of) "You oversaturate your world with nothing but machines" could be in reference to the COUNTLESS animatronics in the franchise "You might make everyone happy but you're dead inside, just like me..." could be in reference to all the fans fnaf and game theory have gained while both of them are still caught in this endless lore battle "We have a lot more in common than you might be calm with It's like were the same person me and you..." in the end both mat and scott keep making the same mistakes telling ludicrous stories and getting in trouble in the eyes of fans "we both don't know what we can do" neither of them know what to do as in how to grow past the cycle of making the same mistakes. anyways like i said before just take this with a grain of salt i just thought i'd get these connections i made off my mind so hopefully they make you enjoy the cover more. (also ya lots of inconsistency in here with when i capitalize stuff and just in general but it took so long just to type this out and i'm too tired to fix it all now)
