MATS 'Build-Off': Dickerson Custom Trucks launches '96 379 to the stratosphere

Thorntown, Indiana-based Dickerson Custom Trucks may not be the oldest player in the custom truck game, but as evidenced by the build in this video, they might be the most innovative. In this video, DCT owner Dustin Dickerson walks us through the total transformation of what was, at one time, a 1996 Peterbilt 379 he hauled some corn with. With a Cat 3412 motor out of a D11 bulldozer, a 389 hood to help fit that bigger motor, the reskinning of the entire body, a 4K screen as a dash with a custom computer system that gives all the information traditional gauges would offer, the truck is a far cry from what rolled off the assembly line nearly 30 years ago.

The engine is just freaking magical and I sure do admire your injunuity it's amazing. Love to have seen a photo of it in its original state. Well, I guess if you can put around 150,000 miles on it a year at over 4 dollars a mile. This may be worth the battle of making this truck. Cattle hauling can pay 6 dollars a mile, 1 way. Some of these builds are near impossible for a regular Joe to build and work at the same time. These guys took all the fun out of it. Time and money is the key to building something like this truck. Daang it Boy!!
