[Matsuoka Restaurant] episode guide: / desusubs
・Translation notes・
The full episode is around 54min so around 16min of talking/ads was cut out.
In order to preserve the timing of a joke or just the flow of a sentence, sometimes the translations might be a little weird, examples: 8:08, 16:20
0:35 - Souma Yukihira (who wears that shirt) = Matsuoka's character
2:36 - This show is promoting "Shokugeki no Souma", so they'll often be referencing the characters and the show in general
4:20 - They're adding [よ/Yo] at the end of their sentences with a weird intonation
(やってる↓よ、ありがと↓よ) It's something they do in Shokugeki. Sounds a little country-slangy to me, so it'll be in bold and italics
4:30 - Hisho = Secretary
Hishoko = Nickname poking fun at Oonishi's character (who is a secretary)
4:49 - Takamina (Takahashi Minami) speaks kinda funny sometimes so she gets imitated a lot by other seiyuus
7:36 - Omurice = Omelette over Rice (usually with ketchup on top)
10:02 - Setsubun = Japanese holiday
Holly = type of plant
During Setsubun, setting up Holly+Sardine ornaments to ward off evil spirits is a tradition. en.wikipedia.o...
13:49 - This is some Ham-making jargon lol
14:55 - Oonishi puts the [よ/Yo] thing on the long phrase [Arigatou Gozaimasu] and thus her intonation sounds really weird (ありがとございます↓よ/Arigatou Gozaimasu↓Yo)
15:20 - A direct translation is more like "Worrying things (for) Matsuoka"
15:32 - Matsuoka says [妖精さん/Yousei-san/Fairy-san]
it's an inside joke from episode 1, [Yousei-san] = the staff
16:23 - Takamina says [重いやつかな?] which means something like "This one's a heavy one, isn't it..."
22:33 - Matsuoka's referring to how he feels like 30min is too long for himself to wait for food, even though he takes a while to cook for others
22:57 - Oonishi's talking about [定食屋] - "Restaurant with only set meals"
These type of restaurants usually serve food really quick
24:49 - Umeboshi = Pickled Japanese Plums
en.wikipedia.o...
25:21 - Oonishi said [すべっちゃったなぁ]
[すべる/Suberu] literally means to slide, or slip
It can also mean "to fail (at something)". In this context, her repeated line (I guess trying to get Matsuoka to listen lol)
25:42 - Hiyayakko = Cold Tofu
en.wikipedia.o...
Soumen = A type of noodles, usually served cold
en.wikipedia.o...
Ume = Japanese Plum (not pickled)
27:42 - Oonishi says [妖精さん/Yousei-san], referring to 15:32
30:22 - [書く/Kaku] means "To Write"
but it also can mean "To Draw", especially if written like [描く/Kaku]
・mistakes・
7:26 「風来の猫すけさん」
風来 = wandering
猫すけ = kind of like a human-like name attached to ねこ? だいすけ+ねこ=ねこすけ?
7:28 「家内の風来坊の方なんだけど。。。」
10:33「いさぎゆく」some type of combo of 「潔い」and「ゆく」
i'm definitely hearing this wrong lol
17:45 「キャラクターぜん」not sure what 「ぜん」is but I'm assuming it means something like "role" from context
26:12 「大西が言ってんだから」does this actually just translate to "because oonishi said so"?
34:31 「一回たかみなに怒られたほうがいいと思う」this is pretty straightforward but I'm not completely sure what matsuoka meant in this context
