Matt Corby - Resolution (Acoustic for 'The Edge')

An acoustic version of 'Resolution' I recently came across. This recording was actually made back in 2013 for a NZ radio station called 'The Edge', but I only just found it. Resolution is possibly my favourite song of Matt's and I thought people would still be interested to hear this version of it despite the fact that Matt now has a bunch of new material out. Hope you enjoy!

All right, I thought I could do my university researches and listen to an acoustic playlist of Matt Corby to concentrate. And 30 second into the song : nope, I can't. I'm automatically into his songs: goosebumps, tears and smile at the same time (can we talk about what happens at 2m36 ???), shall I go on ? It's even worth (better ?) with acoustics version... He's too good. Too much for my little soul.

Hi there! Thanks for your kind words. I added the reverb using a very basic free program called 'Audacity'. There isn't a lot of versatility to the reverb effect in that program, and oftentimes it can sound harsh and too trebly - the niceness of the result pretty much depends on the initial dry audio to be honest. In the case of this piece, the original audio was pretty well balanced (not too trebly), and so it was by sheer luck really that the Audacity reverb sounded good! So I can't take a lot of credit. Needless to say I am no pro audio engineer, and I can't remember the precise settings I used, but I'm pretty sure I just set the 'Room Size' to something like 80%, no pre-delay, 'Reverberance' at about 40%, and then 'Tone Low' at something like 80% and 'Tone High' at 90%. I kind of just played around until I got something that sounded okay!

Just thought I'd let y'all know, Matt recently did a few stripped back live versions of 'Empires Attraction', 'Knife Edge', and 'Belly Side Up' for the radio station KUTX, and those sound a little closer to his old sound.
