derek jones good call and I totally agree. I've heard this on other Garstka videos also. I have the same cymbal but when I record, it is definitely not that dry. Must have dampening on the underside. Maybe it's a new Meinl Byzance Extra EXTRA Dry China.

jvstndrvms that's what I thought at first too but if you watch it throughout the video, the cymbal has much flex to it disproving this theory. When my extra dry is this loosely tightened, it is definitely not this muffled. The mystery continues....

Percussive. For years I've realized that I've never known THAT ONE WORD, the word that could describe music I like. I guess that's why Djent+anyothergenre resonates so much with me. Not just the drums, but the guitar is percussive. That's it, that's what my brain wants. I've finally realized it yes.

Ok, this is for all the haters out there! By a show of hands or (likes and dislikes), in this case.... How many of you out there that was hating on the China cymbal, have their own endorsement? It's free and he plays better than I do! I've been playing for over 40 years and my kit isn't an AMATURE type of setup! I've got a 7 piece DW kit with the matching 9002 pedals and Roto toms Tama octobons and 9 cymbals including a $1500 Sabian Paragon signature 22" ride! He's still kicking my ass with the shit he does!!! I seen a reply about how someone was wishing for his left arm...... No BS! He is INCREDIBLE!!!

its all in 4/4, the kick pattern is 5 1 3 1 (repeat that 4 times) 1 - 1 1 the dash is where the snare hits at the end, so yeah, its more just figuring out the pattern and getting it up to tempo! edit: each number is how many 32nd notes there are in a group, so 5 hits, then 1, then 3 then 1
@aylexmusic
@aylexmusic 2 жыл бұрын
@@trextonhaldeman323 I think it would just be easier to count it as groupings of 4 and 3 and then 4 at the end so 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 ect… but thats just me. I personally think this way because I’m not necessarily feeling the 32nd notes individually, rather I’m feeling the stronger beats and the spacing between them. Thank you so much for taking time to reply Matt! You are a true inspiration to so many... I will check out that Sphere Studios in LA along with Ivan Chopik's productions. This is a total reach but, it's a once and lifetime opportunity to ask your favorite musicians in the world a question. Would you be up for recording drums on a progressive track of mine? If so Email: TheAstronautMusician@gmail.com The Madness of Many album is a beautiful body of music which has changed the way I write music. Keep rocking and making amazing creative music you make the world a better place. I love it... and so do many around the world. Thank you Matt.

I might have to watch this a few times to fully process how you could play this without any extra limbs.
