Think a lot of us have been here. I always say, I was addicted to the addict. When he wanted me and showed it, it was exhilarating. I would be on cloud nine. There was such an intensity about being with him. I knew it was dangerous. It was dramatic. But I think that’s part of what made it beautiful for me and way I stayed longer than I should have. To his credit, he told me early on. That if he ever lost his sobriety I should just leave. I was young, naive, had my own selfish motives, and was in the process of losing my innocence. I just hope he knew, at least at one point, he really did have my whole heart and the pieces there after every time he decided he needed to wreck it.
