He didn't really win...nobody can have claim to the name lol. So both bands can tour under UB40. Ali should stop though. His band doesn't sound like UB40 and Unprecedented is a horrible album. I feel bad for Astro that album was the last thing he recorded and it sucked that hard.

At least this guy came forward and basically said the original band's story was accurate. He couldnt sell tickets so he decided to tour as UB40. Just has to be all about Ali! Lol. Love his singing, but he seems like an ego driven freak. This comment section is a breath of fresh air. Was getting tired of the people drinking the Ali Kool-Aid

I don't agree with Ali using the UB40 name but his is legally allowed to so we have to accept it. While I'm on Robin's side, Ali's reasons for leaving were valid but it could've been handled a lot better instead of all this bitterness and resentment. It has affected the whole Campbell family too. Ali has cut off all his brothers and didn't attend the funerals of both his parents. Duncan Campbell left the "proper" UB40 for health reasons too.

Ali is not legally allowed to use the ub40 name...the real UB40 are still taking it through the courts...its all a waste of money and negative energy but Ali persists because he can't sell gig tickets without doing so...His promoters even superimposed his face on a picture of the current original UB40 to sell more tickets...ludicrous situation and shame Ali has to stoop so low. So sad it's gone on for so long...needs legally putting to bed

Thanks for setting me right. Why can't he just go under his own name? It would save a lot of confusion. I know people who think Ali is the real UB40. As I said earlier his reasons for leaving were valid becuase DEP International was mismanaged and quite a few of the band members (including Ali) were declared bankrupt. I agree it is a ludicrous situation. I don't know how Ali is allowed to use pictures of his ex-bandmates in his promotional material. I'm sure that breaks some sort of advertising rules. I wonder what happened to Mickey Virtue after he'd left Ali's "UB40". The whole situation needs putting to bed once and for all. I reamin firmly on Robin's side. I'm sure Ian Campbell must be turning in his grave. This whole shitstorm started before he died.

@Parknest agreed...crazy thing is, if he did revert to his name alone or "and the Dep Band" as was or something...he might get more of the original "loyal" to original band cut him slack and go to his shows (me included) but the principled ones amongst us avoid him due to misuse of ub40 name and behavior towards his original band mates and family...think it's time he grew up and adressed the name misuse and stop lining lawyers pockets unnecessarily...keep your well earned coin in your pocket...look what happened last time that money was mismanaged as you rightly say. I wish them all (including Ali) well and hope that sense can prevail 😉
