I remember the first time I heard this song in late 1963. A great song by a great singer. He didn't chart in the US much but this was an absolute classic. I can hear it 20 times a day and never tire of it.

I came to love this man's music late in life. I remember 1963, playing darts in "The Cat and Wheel" gently ridiculing the landlords daughter for liking Matt Monro, at a time when rock and roll was my king. Ah, the foolish callow youth of 17, so much to learn, so little time. Fast forward to 1974 when I had to say "walk away" to a lovely lady. The lyrics of this song say it all, word for word. I can't listen to this now without a desperate feeling of loss.

This is a very new find to me, up until around 4 weeks ago I had never heard this song, but since then I have listened to it 2 - 3 days everyday. It is such a beautiful song and Matt Munroe's voice is so beautiful and melodious and does this song justice. I could not imagine any other voice beating this wonderful version. What a shame this man died so young, robbing this world of one of the best singing voices this world will ever know. One of my favourite songs from Matt. I was lucky enough to see him 'live in concert' in Corby in the early 70's. We missed so much due to his untimely death as he was then at his peak in my opinion as many singer's are in their 50's.
