just kinda gotta acknowledge that she did not give him writing credits, but Olivia had to credit Jack, Taylor and St. Vincent for deja vu

I love both Taylor and Matt. And I remember hearing “All Too Well” and hearing that lyric and immediately my jaw dropping cuz she had gotten it from Matt. Still love “I Saw” and “All Too Well” just as much as I did back then.

100% the same when I first heard that song I was like wait I’ve heard that before!!

@@erinredfern234 Update- I love “All Too Well” a bit more than I did when I first posted thanks to the heart-wrenching 10 minute version. But not more than “I Saw.” Both are equally devastating.

i'm a taylor swift fan but i believe she did got inspired by your lyrics and you didn't deserve all the hate just because you thought you deserve credit for your lyric. THANK YOU for your creativity, it completed one of the greatest lyrical and sonical masterpiece she ever did. 💗 i'm forever thankful for your song. 💗

She stole it PERIOD.

This annoyed me because she did use it almost word for word. Seeing as how she copyrighted so many phrases she's used in her songs (even ones that existed before she used them), i can't believe she'd just use someone else's lyrics without asking and crediting them.

I'm not really a typical Swift fan but I actually do enjoy the rare acoustic set she performs and some of her songs, when stripped down with just her and an acoustic, remind me a lot of Matt's live album "At The Point". I had a hunch there would be some connection or inspiration which should be non controversial, she's a great song writer.

One line very similarly worded…. But the song nothing alike. And he didn’t invent that quote. I’ve seen that on girl’s social media pages for years, even back in the AOL AIM days.
@sexyscientist9 ай бұрын
But, can you give an evidence that Taylor had read those social media pages?
@blue84freak9 ай бұрын
@@sexyscientist You're missing the point - I am saying Taylor did NOT steal the line. It's not Matt's line. This has been a public line for decades.
@sexyscientist9 ай бұрын
@@blue84freak Is it about this exact sequence of words? Because Taylor has been taking credits (and royalties) for a line, eg, "deja vu" and "1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back" by Olivia Rodrigo.
@blue84freak9 ай бұрын
@@sexyscientist Deja Vu was because she ripped off a big chunk of the music, not a specific line. 1 Step Forward was a complete ripoff of the piano in Taylor's New Years Day. Again, not one generic line. Also....Olivia Rodrigo has been sued by numerous artists for copying their work. Almost every song she "writes" ends up having at least part of it stolen from someone else.

I have a very, very difficult time believing that that exact line has been around "decades" before Matt put it in one of his songs. I had literally never heard it prior to 2003. It would be a huge gamble for him to claim to have written the lyrics at the risk of someone proving him otherwise (which literally nobody has done). It's not a big deal to borrow lyrics from other artists, but, Christ, give them their f*cking credit man.

One similar line - not identical - doesn’t constitute theft. It’s proper name is jealously.
@rjd62148 ай бұрын
Literally the only difference between the two lines is the tense in which it was written. Again, it's okay to borrow lyrics-it's not okay to not give credit. I love me some Taylor Swift but, c'mon Swifties, anyone with Brain #1 can see that this is a direct ripoff. Just acknowledge it and move on. She's not infallible.
@musclecars607 ай бұрын
But keep in mind that Taylor Swift has copyrighted so many of the phrases she's used in her songs. Phrases that existed before her, but now she gets too sue other people who use them. Because of the way she is, people are a lot more critical of her when they find out she has used other people's ideas and work.
@blue84freak Жыл бұрын
Calls her a thief for one similar sentence. Then he tries to play it off as his friend told him to post it. Then insults Taylor by saying her fans are all little kids - while also insulting all the adult TS fans. This guy really is a turd.
